Good Evening!
It has been quite a week at the Top Class Actions offices. First off, we welcomed Sydney Ava Hardy to the world on September 2nd, 2008 at 6:46 PM MST. So naturally, the next question is, WHO WON THE BABY POOL?!?!?! We would like to congratulate Debbie Jones of Scottsdale, Arizona. She’s taking home the check! Debbie’s getting a check for $68.60 (not a bad return for $5!) and Top Class Actions is matching the amount earmarked for MS Research, so the MS Society will be receiving $142.80 total. Thanks to everyone for helping the Arizona chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society! Want to see pics of the baby? They’re hosted at my Picasa website. There are literally HUNDREDS (Thanks Scott M.!) of pictures there.
What settlements are new?
The Ross / DD’s Discounts Class Action Settlement is quite interesting! It’s a TEENY TINY settlement (only $800,000 to be distributed to the affected class [maybe YOU!]) but it’s an ALL CASH settlement! They’re distributing that among all of the registered class members. Who knows how many will register, but you can bet it will be a relatively small number because electronic claims AREN’T allowed. All claims MUST be filed the old fashioned way, via snail mail. Sad but true. So, who qualifies? Anyone who purchased something from a Ross or DD’s Discounts department store from January 1st, 2005 – February 22nd, 2007 and used a credit card to pay. The claim form states that you need to list the date of purchase and the last four digits of the credit card used BUT the settlement agreement (50+ pages of legal mumbo jumbo) specifically states that a claim shouldn’t be denied if that information isn’t provided. Now THAT makes it interesting, right? Who remembers exactly when they went to the store two years ago and used which card to pay for the transaction? I sure don’t. If you think you may be in the affected class, head over for the full details, print out the claim form and send it in. You’ll get a check in the mail if it’s approved. Who knows for how much, but I’ll guarantee it’s more than the cost of postage!
We’re also continuing to see progress made nationally on Class Action Lawsuit Settlements involving cellular phone providers and ETFs (Early Termination Fees) charged. We’ll be posting the details to TopClassActions.com by the end of the week. They’re picking up and should be settled shortly (or at least that’s the word on the street.) We have some information now which we’re verifying so can get it up ASAP.
What settlements are closing soon?
If you haven’t signed up for the TransUnion settlement, your time is running out! Make sure to head over to the TransUnion settlement Page at TopClassActions.com for the info! Anyone who had a credit card, bought a home or financed a car in the past 10+ years qualifies! Our opinion is that the best option is for six months of free basic credit monitoring PLUS a share of any funds left over after everyone is paid out, but check it out and make the decision for yourself. This one closes on September 24th, so act now before you lose your chance.
Also, the Airborne Health Supplement Class Action Lawsuit Settlement is closing on SEPTEMBER 15th! Did YOU buy the little orange fizzy tablets to help combat a cold? What business traveler HASN’T bought them? That’s a better question. Well, if you bought them between May 1st, 2001 and November 29th, 2007 you can claim a REFUND of up to $63 WITHOUT any proof of purchase required. That’s right, no receipt or empty box required to stake your claim. Head over to the site to get the details and STAKE YOUR CLAIM! Don’t miss out on your piece of the class action settlement pie.
More settlements are getting posted by the end of the week! Stay tuned to TopClassActions.com for the details!
Have a question about a Class Action Lawsuit, pending or otherwise? Send us a note and we’ll check it out!
Warm Regards,
Scott Hardy
