Update from the President of TCA

Good morning everyone! I hope you had an incredible week! I’m back in the office after a crazy time in Vegas (anytime you get 800 attorneys together it gets pretty wild). It was great seeing our clients and getting face time with them. When you’re dealing with guys who charge hundreds of dollars per hour for their time I’m getting a GREAT deal buying them a few $15 drinks to see how they’re doing, what they’re feeling, and where they are going this year. It surprises my competitors when they see me at the bar, or out to dinner, with some of the most successful attorneys in the country. I’ve been asked “Scott, I can’t get ON THE PHONE with them, you’re at a THREE HOUR DINNER with them. How do you do it?” My answer is always simple. I TAKE CARE OF THEM! If they call me at 9 PM on a Saturday, I talk to them. If they have an issue, and they aren’t getting what they need, I brainstorm with my team to find a solution. I’m available for my clients practically 24/7, 365 days a year. When you are an owner there are no holidays, days off, or weekends. Yes, I DO take vacations, but as my beautiful bride will attest, I’ve had to sneak off for a call at Disneyland, or had a cocktail in one hand and my phone in the other, as I take care of business poolside. It’s part of being an entrepreneur. If you don’t work for your business, your team won’t. My team KNOWS that I’m always “on.” They know, sometimes begrudgingly, that I can hit them up for a hot issue at 9 PM at night. They also know that I don’t ask them to do anything I won’t. It’s important to note that every single successful attorney I work with, from the small firm rushing to be first to file, to the law firm with hundreds of attorneys, work nights and weekends. It’s not surprising to see an email come through at 11 PM from a client. They run their law firms like CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. They’re ON because if they don’t take care of their business they will lose it.
