An unpaid overtime class action lawsuit comes to an end as a California business agrees to a $2.8 million settlement.
SoHo House West Hollywood LLC was accused of violating California overtime laws and denying employees overtime pay.
SoHo House is a chain of luxury clubs that is headquartered in London. Only the Los Angeles area location is under investigation for violating California overtime laws. Over 1,000 employees were involved in this unpaid overtime class action lawsuit.
SoHo House agreed to pay $2.8 million in settlements to Class Members who had claimed the defendants broke California wage laws. However, SoHo House continues to deny that they broke California overtime laws, but agreed to the settlement to avoid large amounts of time and money the unpaid overtime class action lawsuit would cost the company.Â
So far, 637 out of about 1,250 unpaid overtime claims have been collected so far.
Unpaid Overtime Class Action Lawsuit Allegations
The unpaid overtime class action lawsuit was originally filed in December 2012 by Andrea W. She alleged that the restaurant and club chain failed to pay hundreds of employees overtime pay and broke several California overtime laws.
According to the unpaid overtime class action lawsuit, SoHo House employees were not paid for work performed off the clock and were underpaid for any overtime or unused personal days.
Employees also allegedly missed meal periods or missed rest breaks because SoHo House failed to tell them about the California wage laws that state employees can take 10-minute breaks every four hours of work.
California overtime laws also state that nonexempt employees should receive one and a half times of their regular pay when working overtime. Employees were also not given proper reimbursement for the cost of maintaining their uniforms, according to the unpaid overtime class action lawsuit.
California Wage Law Violations
Many unpaid overtime class action lawsuits have been filed against corporations such as H&R Block Enterprises Inc., Bank of America, and dozens of others.
The most common California wage law violations involve problems with:
- Unpaid overtime
- Unpaid wages
- Working off-the-clock
- Misclassification
- Missed meals & reaks
- Donning & doffing
- Below than minimum wage rate
- Tip pooling
Many Californians are unaware of California overtime laws and may have been wrongfully denied overtime pay. Millions have already been awarded in unpaid overtime class action lawsuits filed by employees who have been allegedly mistreated by their employers.
The Unpaid Overtime Class Action Lawsuit is Case No. BC496246, in the Superior Court of the State of California.

One thought on SoHo House To Pay $2.8M Unpaid OT Class Action Settlement
Does your association have any information on a class action suit against SOHO WAREHOUSE DTLA? November of 2019 at the time of my interview and hire at Soho Warehouse DTLA, there were picketers outside of the establishment.
At any rate I am being denied medical benefits after completing the standard probation waiting.
I was told due to the companies negligence of submitting my paperwork I would have to wait another year before being eligible to receive medical benefits.
