Lawsuit Filed Over Man’s Allegedly Fatal Xarelto InjuriesA new lawsuit has been filed over a Florida man’s fatal Xarelto injuries, alleging that he was not adequately warned about the risk of bleeding complications linked with the medication.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the late Albert B., who passed away on Oct.r 30, 2016, allegedly because of fatal Xarelto injuries.

Albert was prescribed Xarelto in order to treat deep vein thrombosis on Aug. 9, 2016. He continued this usage through Oct. 27, 2016, when he began experiencing severe complications: uncontrollable bleeding so bad it necessitated a blood transfusion and led to multiple-organ failure.

Unfortunately, these were ultimately fatal Xarelto injuries, the lawsuit says, and Albert died just three days later.

According to the Xarelto lawsuit, Albert’s fatal Xarelto injuries could have been avoided had Janssen given adequate warning about the dangerous risks associated with the medication. Instead, the company actively concealed the drug’s risks, the lawsuit claims, placing patients in danger of serious and even life-threatening side effects, in some cases becoming fatal.

The plaintiff Joan H. filed this lawsuit on his behalf as his estate’s representative. The lawsuit was filed on April 9, 2018 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including but not limited to negligence, breach of express and implied warranties, fraudulent misrepresentation and concealment, and wrongful death.

Background of Xarelto

Xarelto (also sold under its generic name, rivaroxaban) is a relatively new blood thinning medication, manufactured and sold by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Since it was initially introduced to the market, Xarelto has become one of the most widely used blood thinning medications available.

However, a growing number of lawsuits are being filed over complications allegedly stemming from the medication, including potentially fatal Xarelto injuries. According to such lawsuits, Janssen knew about the dangerous side effects linked with Xarelto, including excessive bleeding problems and even fatal Xarelto injuries, yet failed to adequately warn both consumers and the medical community, thereby placing patients at serious risk.

In 2012, after less than two years on the market, more than 2,000 individual Xarelto adverse events reports were filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA. While many of the patients involved in these reported adverse events recovered, 151 of these cases involved fatal Xarelto injuries.

Filing a Lawsuit Over Severe or Fatal Xarelto Injuries

If you or someone you love has experienced severe Xarelto or even fatal Xarelto injuries, you may be able to file a Xarelto lawsuit. Filing a Xarelto lawsuit cannot take away the pain and suffering of someone who has experienced Xarelto side effects, and cannot bring a loved one back to life, but it can help to alleviate the financial burden caused often incurred by medical expenses and lost wages.

The Fatal Xarelto Injuries Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-03720-EEF-MBN, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
