Warning Signs for Lipitor Type-2 Diabetes Side Effects
By John Curran

Drug maker Pfizer Inc. has updated the labeling for its popular statin drug Lipitor, which is used to reduce cholesterol. The new label warns users that elevated blood sugar is one of the side effects of Lipitor, and users should monitor serum glucose levels while taking Lipitor. There are other symptoms of pre-diabetes, however, that Lipitor users should be aware of.
The most common symptoms of pre-diabetes are increased feelings of tiredness and hunger. Insulin sensitivity limits the ability for your body to break down sugars and move them to your various cells. Losing caloric energy also can result in excessive fatigue which could be a sign that you are developing Lipitor type-2 diabetes side effects.
If you’ve ever put sugar into tea or coffee, you have seen it vanish. In the body, this can result in fluid moving away from tissue and causing you to become much more thirsty than normal. While you may not notice this, having to go to the bathroom frequently may also be a warning sign of diabetes.
Other side effects of sugar pulling fluid from parts of the body can include blurred vision as well as difficulty resisting infections or cuts that take longer to heal than they used to, according to the Mayo Clinic.Â
Another sign of diabetes may be darker skin in the armpits or around one’s neck. Along with getting your glucose levels monitored, Lipitor users should watch out for any of these signs, which could mean they have developed insulin sensitivity.
Lipitor Diabetes Lawsuits Grow
While Pfizer changed its labeling recently, the medication has been on the market for years. Women may not have realized that in trying to reduce cholesterol levels, they may have been putting themselves at risk for this cardiovascular disease that can lead to blindness or amputation in some cases. Some Lipitor users have filed lawsuits alleging that even the current drug safety information packets do not use clear language that patients can understand regarding the risk of developing type-2 diabetes from Lipitor.
If you are a woman and developed complications as a result of the statin drug, you may be able to pursue a legal remedy. The first step is to get a free consultation to establish your eligibility. You can do so by filling out the short form at the Lipitor Diabetes Class Action Lawsuit Investigation. Lipitor diabetes lawsuits are mounting against Pfizer, but it is unclear whether or not statutes of limitations apply, so it is important to get legal proceedings started as soon as possible.
