Wright & Filippis agreed to a $2.9 million settlement to resolve claims it failed to protect consumers from a 2022 data breach.
The settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notification letter informing them their information may have been compromised between Jan. 26 and 28, 2022.
According to the class action lawsuit, Wright & Filippis failed to prevent a Jan. 2022, data breach that compromised patient names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, health insurance data and other sensitive information. Plaintiffs in the case claim Wright & Filippis could have prevented the cyberattack by implementing reasonable cybersecurity measures.
Wright & Filippis is a prosthetics, orthotics and accessibility company.
Wright & Filippis hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2.9 million settlement to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for data breach-related expenses. This includes bank fees, professional expenses, credit costs and other miscellaneous expenses.
Class members who do not have documented expenses or do not wish to claim this reimbursement can instead opt to receive an alternate cash fund payment. Cash fund payments will vary depending on the funds remaining in the settlement after reimbursement claims are paid.
Instead of a settlement payment or reimbursement, class members can choose to receive three years of credit monitoring and insurance services.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 8, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for May 30, 2024.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by May 8, 2024.

I received a letter in mail from orsini pharmaceutical that my information may have been compromised. They did a investigation on one of their employee’s email account and found it. They found emails with my name and information. I’m contacting you to see what you think about this?
I’ve received a few data breach notifications, not sure if this is one of them.
