WinCo Oregon surcharge $3.365M class action settlement

Consumers could benefit from a $3.365 million WinCo surcharge settlement to resolve claims it charged illegal surcharges on non-grocery items.

The settlement benefits consumers who purchased certain non-grocery items at a WinCo store in Portland, Oregon, between June 1, 2019, and May 8, 2022, whom the store applied a surcharge on the non-grocery items they purchased.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim WinCo charged unlawful surcharges on non-grocery items. This surcharge allegedly violated Portland laws that prohibit unauthorized surcharges.

WinCo is a grocery store chain with locations around the country, including Portland, Oregon.

WinCo hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $3.365 million to resolve the surcharge class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the WinCo surcharge settlement, class members can receive payments of up to $200. Payments may be increased or reduced on a pro rata basis based on the number of claim forms filed with the settlement.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is July 9, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Aug. 8, 2024.

To receive a WinCo surcharge settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 9, 2024.
