Saint-Gobain agreed to pay $1.6 million to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it misled consumers about the “best if used by” dates on Norton bonded abrasive wheels. No proof of purchase is required for consumers to benefit from the Saint-Gobain class action lawsuit settlement.

The settlement benefits consumers who purchased certain Saint-Gobain organic bonded abrasive wheel products between June 6, 2017, and Feb. 1, 2024. Consumers can find a full list of covered products on the settlement website.

According to the class action lawsuit, Norton bonded abrasive wheels do not last as long as consumers expect based on “best if used by dates” on product labels. The plaintiffs contend the wheels don’t last as long as promised due to resin degradation.

Saint-Gobain is a manufacturing and engineering company that sells products under numerous brands, including Norton, TekBond and Adfors.

Saint-Gobain hasn’t admitted wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.6 million settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit.

Under the settlement terms, class members who provide proof of purchase can receive a full refund for any purchased products for a maximum payment of $50. 

Class members without proof of purchase are also eligible for payments and can receive up to $3 per product for up to five products per household, for a maximum payment of $15.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 17, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for May 29, 2024.

Class members must submit a valid claim form by April 17, 2024, to receive a settlement payment.

Consumers who purchased certain Saint-Gobain organic bonded abrasive wheel products between June 6, 2017, and Feb. 1, 2024.

Proof of Purchase

No proof of purchase is required for consumers to benefit from the Saint-Gobain class action lawsuit settlement, but those who submit proof of purchase with their claim may be eligible for higher payment.

Itemized receipts or credit card/electronic statements that identify the purchased products and payment information are required for larger payments.
