Pape-Dawson Engineers agreed to a $250,000 settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit stemming from a 2022 data breach that compromised personal information and protected health data.

The settlement benefits individuals who were identified by Pape-Dawson Engineers as being affected by the 2022 data breach.

According to the data breach class action lawsuit, Pape-Dawson failed to prevent a data breach discovered on Feb. 21, 2022. The data breach allegedly compromised Social Security numbers, medical information and other sensitive data.

Pape-Dawson Engineers is a civil engineering company that offers transportation, water, land development, environmental and surveying services.

Pape-Dawson hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $250,000 settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive $325 for ordinary expense reimbursement for bank fees, communication charges, credit costs and up to three hours of lost time compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.

Class members who experienced extraordinary data breach losses as a result of fraud or identity theft may be able to recover higher reimbursement payments of up to $4,000.

All class members can receive one year of free credit monitoring services through CyEx. These services include single-bureau credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, $1 million insurance and other support.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 10, 2023.
