Panera Bread agreed to pay $2 million to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging that it misled consumers about fees and menu prices when charging for delivery orders.

The settlement benefits consumers who placed an order for delivery on the Panera app and/or the Panera website between Oct. 1, 2020, and Aug. 31, 2021.

Plaintiffs in three class action lawsuits claim Panera misled them and other consumers about how much they would pay for delivery orders, specifically when it came to delivery fees and menu prices. Consumers argue that they paid more than they expected based on Panera’s representations.

Panera is a sandwich, soup and salad chain with locations around the United States.

Panera hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2 million settlement to resolve the delivery fees class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Panera Bread settlement, class members can receive either vouchers or a cash payment.

Class members who choose to receive vouchers will receive two vouchers for one free item from Panera’s “Soups & Mac” menu. Each of these vouchers is valued at $9.50, for a total voucher value of $19.

Class members who do not want to receive vouchers can receive an electronic payment of up to $12 via PayPal, Venmo or another electronic payment platform. Actual payments may be reduced on a pro rata basis to a sum less than $12 if there are too many claims to be covered by the net settlement fund.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is March 11, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the Panera Bread class action lawsuit settlement is scheduled for May 31, 2024.

In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by June 10, 2024.
