Novant Health agreed to a $6.66 million privacy class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it used pixel tracking tools on its website, compromising sensitive patient information and disclosing it to third parties.
The settlement benefits individuals whose personal or health-related information may have been disclosed to a third party due to Novant Health’s use of tracking tools on its websites and MyChart patient portal between May 1, 2020, and Aug. 12, 2022.
According to the class action lawsuit, Novant Health used pixel tracking code on its website and MyChart patient portal that communicated user information with third parties. Plaintiffs in the case claim Novant Health shared their sensitive personal and health-related information without their consent using these tracking tools.
Novant Health is a healthcare system that serves North Carolina and South Carolina.
Novant Health hasn’t admitted wrongdoing but agreed to a $6.66 million settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Novant Health privacy settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Exact payment amounts will vary depending on the number of valid claims filed with the settlement. No payment estimates are available at this time.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 4, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the Novant Health privacy settlement is scheduled for June 6, 2024.
In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by May 6, 2024.

My husband and I both have used MyChart for multiple doctors for years including the dates mentioned in the suit. I think I vaguely remember seeing a letter but we never received anything with a claim number.
Both, my wife and myself have several physicians and two hospitals that use the MyChart system. Are we eligible to sign up and if we are eligible how do we sign up???
My daughter and I both received a letter from Novant on April 12, 2022 stating that our info was potentially compromised because we logged into mychart during certain dates. However we have not received any postcard or email with a claim number. The letter does not have a claim number either but I did keep both letters. Any suggestions?
I’ve been treated by quite a few doctors in the Novant Health Care System. Please include me in this class action.
