Three TV broadcasting companies agreed to pay a combined $48 million settlement to resolve claims that they conspired together to raise and fix the cost of television spot ads.
The settlement benefits individuals and entities who purchased broadcast television spot advertising from CBS, Cox Media, Dreamcatcher Broadcasting, FOX, Griffin Communications, Meredith Corp., Nexstar Media, Raycom Media, E.W. Scripps, Sinclair Broadcast, TEGNA, Tribune Broadcasting and/or Tribune Media in designated market areas between Jan. 1, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2018.
According to plaintiffs in the case, broadcasting companies worked together to raise and fix the cost of TV spot advertisements — forcing businesses to overpay for these ads. The alleged conspiracy violated federal antitrust laws, the class action lawsuit contends.
Broadcast television spot advertisements are short TV ads sold by broadcasting systems to businesses.
The defendants haven’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to $48 million in settlements to resolve the TV advertising class action lawsuit. Cox agreed to pay $37 million, Fox will pay $6 million and CBS agreed to pay $5 million.
Under the terms of the TV advertising settlement, class members can receive a proportional share of the settlement funds based on the amount they paid for advertisements. No payment estimates are available, but claimants are guaranteed to receive at least $5.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 26, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the TV ads settlement is scheduled for Dec. 7, 2023.
In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 26, 2023.

Add me
Typical refund, $5, are they serious? TV ads cost thousands of dollars & more, but they’re giving back a whopping $5, I’m starting to see who is getting the real money here & it ain’t the claimants!
Add me
I never understand why people keep saying “add me” in the comments. It clearly states in this article “In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form”. It is that way with ALL the articles. You need to fill out a form with your information to be included in any of the claims. Saying “add me” here does NOT get you on the list.
Agreed! Typing “add me” isn’t going to do anything. Besides, do these people really think they’re going to get a settlement from this suit in particular? Did they purchase advertising with these cable companies? I truly wonder what they expect to happen when they type that in the comments or if they even read what the article is about.
LOL
If you didn’t purchase advertising, this doesn’t apply to you…stop putting “Add Me”. That never works anyway…Add who? No address or anything but you want to be added?
I always check the comments to see how many people type “add me”. I wonder do they even read the article at all? Who do they think is going to add them and what do they think they’re being added to? I’m quite sure most of them aren’t even eligible for the claim, but if they were, do they not see the HUGE blue box that says “click here to file claim” and the entire article stating how to be included as a class action member?
LOL
So glad to know I’m not alone in this mindset! I was really curious to see how many mindless “add me” comments I’d see in this specific suit. I was not disappointed. 😆
For everyone who has posted please add me, Unless you have a business or are a business, your not eligible for this. I was going to put my name in on this suite until I found out that you can’t make a claim unless you’re a business owner.
I think that it’s sucky ,but nothing really can’t be done.
Did you pay for advertising during the time it was fixed? If not then why would you even consider putting your name in on this? If you have proof that you as an individual paid thousands of dollars for a TV add on a national network, then I’m sure filling out the claim form wouldn’t be an issue. What was your non-business commercial for?
Please add me I lived in Lexington, Kentucky from 2013 to 2023.
Please I like to be added to this claim. Thank you.
That’s great except this has nothing to do with where you live or lived. Unless you purchased TV advertising you don’t qualify. But it’s pretty hard to miss that big blue button that says file a claim, so saying add me must be the way to go when one doesn’t qualify. Jfc.
Tis the reason we are forced to watch more ad time than the actual OTA TV program we elected to watch. I’ve timed them more than once. Ads use approximately 16 minutes time to approximately 14 minutes time program. Shameful.

Add yourself. See where it says ” File Claim”?
Add you for what? Did you purchase advertising time with those cable companies?
