General Credit Acceptance agreed to pay $2.75 million to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it violated Missouri law when repossessing and selling collateral property.

The settlement benefits borrowers or buyers with a Missouri address whose loan or financing agreement was secured by collateral that was repossessed by General Credit Acceptance Co. since May 12, 2008.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit accused the company of violating statutory requirements for pre- and post-sale notices required by Missouri law. 

General Credit Acceptance Co. is a lender based in Missouri.

General Credit Acceptance hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2.75 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the repossession allegations.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the amount of money they borrowed and the interest on their loan. No payment estimates are available at this time. 

The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 15, 2023.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for May 15, 2023.

No claim form is required to benefit from the settlement. Class members can update their addresses on the settlement website to ensure they receive their payment at the correct place.

    I brought a car that was 15,000 on lot when all was said and done my car cost 30,000 with a 30+ interest rate. They repoed it I never seen it again and never received my property I missed 1 month after paying on time for 2 years.

    I live in New Mexico and I bought a car that was $11,000 on the lot and it was $28,000 by the time it was done said and then I think it was like more like $32,000 actually said and done with credit acceptance corporation I was told the car was not going to cost more than maybe 17 or 18,000 I was good with that until I saw the financing they’ve also stopped my auto pay twice which made me get behind on my payments the car also blew the engine they will not work with me on lowering the payment refinancing anything like that I’m paying for a car I cannot drive they’ve been nothing but a nightmare headache and just wrong I get called 10-15 times a day from different numbers that don’t identify themselves as credit acceptance robocalls if I’m one day behind the payment day I start getting phone calls and they have called me as early as 7:00 in the morning and as late as 10:37 at night they are just wrong

      I truly understand ..I filed a complaint on credit acceptance corp.when it time for me to make a payment .set me behind .thy tried to come an reo. My car .I fault the guy .wasn’t a tow driver ..last night 4am.another tow driver came 4am. I ran out .we had a big fight.an he pulled out his pistol.. I didn’t care. I still have my car ..

    I got a dodge charge sacpack 2016 I bought it for 28.000 and after they got done finance it the total came to me 50.000 thousand dollar that and they when they sell the car at auction and the don’t get 50.000 for I have to pay the different this is unreal so sad

      I’m dealing with credit acceptance corp.. I’ filed a complaint to the attorney in mo next mo.later for me to pay my car payment .thy retaliate by not accepting my payments .therefore sets me up to get behind on payments to be repo..and thy did try ..I drove off .

    They call me multiple times a day on different numbers. The car I got was 5999 on the lot. With their financing it totaled to over 12,000. Ridiculous!
