Easy Healthcare agreed to pay $750,000 to resolve claims that it shared Premom app user information with third parties without first getting consent.
The settlement benefits consumers who are registered to use Easy Healthcare’s Premom app on their Android or iOS smartphones, tablets or laptops and who purchased a new device due to privacy concerns.Â
According to the class action lawsuit, the Premom app shared personal information and device data with third parties without user consent. The app allegedly shared advertising IDs, router IDs, serial numbers and other device data, forcing consumers to get entirely new devices or routers in order to keep their information private.
Premom is an ovulation tracker, period tracker and pregnancy app designed by Easy Healthcare that helps people on their conception and fertility journey.
Easy Healthcare hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $750,000 settlement to resolve the app data privacy class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members who purchased a replacement smartphone or router due to privacy concerns can receive a cash payment of up to $30. Actual payments may be lower if a large number of claims are filed, but will not exceed $30.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 13, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Dec. 20, 2023.
In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 13, 2023.
