Delta Air Lines agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it breached its ticket contracts by refusing to refund flights that were canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The settlement benefits Delta ticket holders who received credit for a non-refundable ticket for a flight scheduled to depart between March 1, 2020, and April 30, 2021, that was later canceled by Delta, who requested a refund for the ticket but did not receive one and who had an unused or partially used credit as of Jan. 13, 2023.
Plaintiffs in the Delta Air Lines class action lawsuit claim the airline should have refunded them for flights canceled due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Although passengers received ticket credits, they argue that they were owed cash refunds based on ticket agreements.
Delta is a prominent airline that books regular flights across the United States and to other countries. Consumers looking for flights may be interested in visiting CheapOair.com.
Delta hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum as part of a settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Delta settlement, class members can receive either a cash payment or a credit.Â
Cash payments will refund class members for any remaining unused credit. Credit payments will maintain unused ticket credits but will add an interest credit of 7% on the original ticket amount.Â
Class members who have multiple credits can choose a combination of cash and credit payments.Â
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 31, 2023.Â
The final approval hearing for the Delta settlement is scheduled for Oct. 5, 2023.
In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 15, 2023.

Is it possible to bring a suit against American Airline for the same?
This is only IF you requested a refund and were denied. The rest of us are still sitting on a credit and will lose it by the end of this year.
