You could receive a CenterEdge settlement payment if a company scanned your fingerprint in Illinois using a CenterEdge point of sale system.

The settlement benefits two groups of class members. Group 1 includes individuals who scanned one or more fingers into a CenterEdge system in Illinois between April 29, 2014, and March 20, 2024. Group 2 includes individuals who scanned one or more fingers into a CenterEdge system in Illinois between April 29, 2014, and March 20, 2024, at Sky Zone Trampoline Park locations in Elmhurst, Aurora or Joliet, Illinois.

According to the class action lawsuit, CenterEdge violated Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act by failing to get express consumer consent before collecting biometrics through its point of sale systems, which include fingerprint scanners. CenterEdge also allegedly failed to provide the proper disclosures required by BIPA.

CenterEdge is a point of sale provider that partners with amusement parks, waterparks and other attractions.

CenterEdge agreed to pay $1.175 million to resolve the BIPA class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the CenterEdge settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Exact payments will vary, but each class member is estimated to receive between $230 and $330.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 10, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Aug. 21, 2024.

Group 1 class members do not need to take action to receive CenterEdge settlement payments. Group 2 class members must submit a valid claim form by June 24, 2024, to receive settlement payments.
