Virgin Scent agreed to a $3.08 million class action settlement to resolve claims it sold Artnaturals hand sanitizer contaminated with benzene, a cancer-causing chemical. No proof of purchase is required for class members to submit a claim.
The settlement benefits consumers who purchased any hand sanitizer product from Artnaturals between Jan. 1, 2015, and May 23, 2023.
According to the class action lawsuit, the company distributed Artnaturals hand sanitizer with dangerously high levels of benzene for years. Benzene is a known carcinogen linked to leukemia and other blood disorders.
Artnaturals is a personal care brand owned and operated by Virgin Scent. The brand sells hand sanitizer, hair care, skin care, essential oils and other products.
Virgin Scent hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $3.08 million settlement to resolve the hand sanitizer class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the number of hand sanitizer products they purchased.
With proof of purchase, class members are not limited in the number of products they can claim. Without proof of purchase, class members can claim only 10 products.
Class members can also receive up to $1,000 in medical monitoring.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 12, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Sept. 20, 2023.
In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Aug. 12, 2023.

Why hasn’t payment been issued? I called the phone number and it is not a working number. The website is down, too.

I haven’t and I just emailed.
It says payments started and I filed the claim but no payment. I even have the bottles here at home used and the others not used after I saw the lawsuit. Not sure if they are really sending payments or how do we know who they choose to receive them.
I contracted 2 types of cancer from using the Artnaturals Hand Sanitizer for almost 10 years. 3 years after discontinuing use, I developed brain cancer and Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Looking for an attorney to represent me on the injury portion of this suit.
