Several McDonald’s franchisees agreed to an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) settlement of nearly $2 million to resolve claims they are liable for sexual harassment.

The settlement benefits individuals who worked for certain McDonald’s franchisees (AMTCR Inc., AMTCR Nevada Inc., AMTCR California LLC, White Bluff Inc., Gamble Oak Inc. and Rock Basin LLC) who have a claim for sexual harassment and/or a sexually hostile work environment.

According to the EEOC, the McDonald’s franchisees violated labor laws by subjecting workers to sexual harassment and a sexually hostile work environment. Young male and female workers were allegedly subject to this harassment, which the franchisees allegedly did not attempt to stop.

AMTCR Inc., AMTCR Nevada Inc., AMTCR California LLC, White Bluff Inc., Gamble Oak Inc. and Rock Basin LLC are franchisees of McDonald’s locations in Nevada and California.

The McDonald’s franchisees haven’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $1.99 million to resolve the EEOC complaint.

Under the terms of the McDonald’s EEOC settlement, claimants may be eligible for a cash payment.

Cash payments will be awarded based on the EEOC’s determination of discrimination and other harm experienced by each individual.

There is no exclusion or objection deadline for the McDonald’s settlement.

The settlement was approved through a consent decree Jan. 5, 2023.

In order to receive settlement benefits, workers must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 10, 2023.
