RadioShack

A federal bankruptcy judge has authorized a settlement that will issue compensation to consumers who have unused RadioShack gift cards with a balance.

Attorneys general from several states had accused RadioShack of selling gift cards to consumers after the 2014 holiday season even though the company knew it would soon be declaring bankruptcy and that the cards would lose their value.

In February 2015, RadioShack filed a petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The bankruptcy plan was approved and became effective on Oct. 7, 2015.

The RadioShack gift card claims process is part of a settlement agreement approved by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. The company has agreed to issue refunds to consumers who still have a RadioShack gift cards with an unused balance. This settlement will ensure that holders of unused gift cards will receive their refunds ahead of RadioShack’s secured creditors.

There are approximately $46 million worth of RadioShack gift cards that have not yet been redeemed, and under the terms of the bankruptcy plan, RadioShack will have to exchange them all for cash. Priority will be given to gift cards that were purchased from a RadioShack store or an authorized seller. Consumers who received gift cards as a promotion or in exchange for merchandise may not be eligible for a full refund.

Who’s Eligible

Anyone with a RadioShack gift card that has a balance may be eligible for a refund from the gift card settlement.

Potential Award

Varies.

If your gift card was purchased from a RadioShack store (or an authorized seller), you will be paid 100 percent of the balance on your card.

If your gift card was not purchased from a RadioShack store but was instead given to you in exchange for a merchandise return, to resolve a customer service dispute, or as a service contract/warranty refund, your claim will not be treated as a priority and you may not receive a full refund.

Proof of Purchase

Class Members must provide a copy of the gift card and/or the card’s serial number in order to be eligible for payment.

You do not need to know the balance on your gift card to file a claim.

Well since you folks have to supply a copy of the gift card or give a serial #, that leaves 99.99999 % of the people that read this website out of a payment. I am of the firm belief that 90% of the people who file a claim on this website file false claims, and the 10% that do file claims and get paid are of the good fortune to have some claim administrator that just wants to pay out the claims on a first come first serve basis so that the lawyers and everyone can get paid and the books closed on the case. It amazes me at the poor bastards that get on here and worry about a $10 claim being paid out and who got paid when. *I get a special kick out of seeing the Words like $22 Check received in ( insert your state ) on such and such a date!!! I really get my rocks off seeing these pathetic losers wanting to CALL a claims administrator and see when that $8 claim for something like fruitless fruit cups or some other bs claim. Keep up the good work you pathetic low class losers and keep on filing those false claims, you will get lucky on a few!!!
