American Well Corp., operator of LiveHealth Online, agreed to a $2.03 million class action settlement to resolve claims it violated privacy laws by disclosing medical information to third parties.
The AmWell settlement benefits individuals who used the appointment booking tool on the LiveHealth Online website, iOS app or Android app between October 2024 and August 2025.
Plaintiffs in the data sharing lawsuit claim LiveHealth Online violated federal and California privacy laws by disclosing medical information and communications to third parties without permission. This disclosure allegedly violated the Federal Wiretap Act, California’s Invasion of Privacy Act, the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act and other laws.
LiveHealth Online is a telehealth service that connects patients with doctors for virtual visits.
LiveHealth Online has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2,037,751.46 class action settlement to resolve the privacy class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. According to the AmWell settlement website, each class member is estimated to receive between $51.14 and $102.29. Exact payments will vary depending on the number of participating class members.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 30, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the data sharing class action settlement is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2027.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 30, 2026.
