
Western Union money class action lawsuit overview:

Western Union unlawfully benefits itself by holding and using money from transfers that don’t go through, a new class action alleges.
Plaintiff Daniel Subkoff’s class action lawsuit claims Western Union fails to inform customers that it uses non-transferred money to earn interest and/or make investments for its own financial gain and benefit.
Subkoff argues further that, in the event the money transfer network does return customers’ funds, it allegedly will not pay them any of the interest it earned and/or any financial gains realized by the company via using the money for holding and investing.
The plaintiff wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers who deposited money through Western Union and whose money was not transferred and who were not paid any interest upon its return, among other similar classes.
Western Union class action: Company acknowledges it uses customer money without consent
Subkoff argues Western Union has publicly acknowledged through financial statements that it converts untransferred money to its “own use and benefit,” and is “unjustly enriched by use of the customer’s money without permission, consent or authorization by the customer.”
Western Union “benefits financially by holding and using the customer’s money to make money for itself while the customer comes out of the transaction worse off financially because they have been deprived of the use and benefit of their money,” the lawsuit states.
Subkoff claims Western Union is guilty of breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, conversion and breach of fiduciary duty, among other things, and of violating consumer protection laws in a number of different states.
The plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting injunctive and declaratory relief along with an award of exemplary or punitive damages for himself and all class members.
A consumer filed a separate class action lawsuit against Western Union in 2022 over claims the company failed to make its website accessible to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Please add me I purchased and lost a money order for Novembers rent made out to the management company I rent from , was given the run around all month and then finally told this week that the order had been cashed which is impossible because for three weeks there were multiple claims attached to claims on this one transaction that I was sent on a confusing and unnessecerry gathering of documentation of the exact same info from the store receipt to police report to store letter and signature to then finally asking for a copy of the money order itself that was lost ,ummm ??? Then told idk why they asked for that the receipt was enough to the final denial because the order mysteriously has now been cashed …..

Western Union never tried to contact me at all yo reimburse my money. I WANT MY HARD EARNED MONEY BACK PLUS THE INTEREST ACCUMULATED.
Please forward this to the Attorney’s representing the plaintiff, I am in a similar situation where I cancelled a transaction in October 2024, till this date I have not been reimbursed. I filed a claim with WU they are giving me a run around with misleading and erroneous information. I have all supporting documentation on the debit card charged, the cancelled status on the MTCN, the Receiver not receiving the money. A claim number is provided by WU, with email confirming false assurance that their responsible team would respond, with further misleading information. Would like to be a joinder in this case.

I would like to be included in this suite . On November 2025 purchased a money order to pay my rent and upon going to hand it to my landlord the day after realized it somehow got lost in my travels home the evening before when I purchased it but luckily or so I thought I still had the receipt for , upon hours and hours of phone calls and documents and more calls and denials here I stand a month later still with no refund but facing court tomorrow for eviction and still have finally satisfied or so I thought the original one document I started with but now denied because a month later a stopped payment had now just been cashed . I can’t make my rent for last month and this month so merry Christmas I am homeless and wasted many hours doing unnecessary documenting to lose my home , this company is not a greenhorn to the financial market and I’m disgusted that they had wasted many hours of my time and energy producing many documents of the same information given on the original receipt stating that the money order hadn’t been cashed to finally a month later and 10th hour before court to tell me that well looks like it had been cashed after all . I feel so extremely stressed out having been placed under election for the holidays with no refund still in site and because of this I’m asking to be put in on this class action for this has caused my declining health to become an additional problem and still have no idea what I’m going to do to get a roof over my head . Bad form western union shame on you and your corporate ethics.
