Women Who Had Cervical Cancer Hysterectomy Reportedly Got Cancer AgainSome women report that their cervical cancer recurred or was further aggravated after undergoing a cervical cancer hysterectomy.

The cervical cancer hysterectomy procedure is known as a laparoscopic radical hysterectomy. Patients claim that they were never told about the risks of the cervical cancer hysterectomy, aggravating their existing cancer diagnosis or causing the cancer diagnosis to come back.

Those women who underwent the cervical cancer hysterectomy may face survival rates that are worse than that of those who did not undergo the procedure.

Studies have revealed that the procedure, frequently recommended to patients diagnosed with cervical cancer, could even lead to a threefold increase in the progression of cervical cancer.

The cervical cancer hysterectomy procedure is also referred to as a common keyhole surgery. Two different studies have found that those patients who undergo the procedure are more likely to have their cancer come back, and some have even died, despite the fact that this treatment drastically reduces recovery times.

U.S. researchers evaluating the cervical cancer hysterectomy procedure found that, when looking at survival rates for those women who have been diagnosed with early-stage cervical cancer, 65 percent more women who had this minimally invasive procedure passed away within 4 years.

The cervical cancer hysterectomy procedure involves a robotic surgeon or long instruments. The uterus, cervix and surrounding tissue that could have been affected by the spread of the cancer are removed through a small incision in the patient’s abdomen.

One of the primary benefits touted by those doing the procedure is a short recovery time. Proponents say that this is a benefit compared to the higher risks of infection and additional days of recovery required with open surgery.

Nearly 60 percent of those patients who have been diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer will undergo this minimally invasive approach in the United States. However, studies have reportedly found that women who have had a cervical cancer hysterectomy have had worse outcomes, according to the results posted in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Several different hospitals or surgeons have blacklisted this cervical cancer hysterectomy as a result. Some doctors believe that it is no longer recommended that women undergo this minimally invasive radical hysterectomy if they have early stage cervical cancer as a result of the negative outcomes.

The initial research project that connected the problems with the cervical cancer hysterectomy involved an international trial with 631 women with stage one cervical cancer. The women were randomly assigned to open treatment or non-invasive treatment between 2008 and 2017.

The study reported a threefold increase in the disease’s progression connected with the minimally invasive surgery. Additionally, fewer of the women who had a cervical cancer hysterectomy were alive after three years than those who had open surgery.

Some women who went through the cervical cancer hysterectomy and suffered a cancer recurrence, along with their loved ones, could participate in a cervical cancer lawsuit investigation.
