Victims and Family Members Still Seeking 9/11 Cancer CompensationThe number of families that were affected by the twin towers tragedy in 2001 was devastating for the United States and victims and surviving family members are still continuing to pursue 9/11 cancer compensation.

Several different opportunities for 9/11 cancer compensation exist, the most prominent being the federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. Those individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and other respiratory or medical conditions after being in or around ground zero during the time of the attacks may be eligible for 9/11 cancer compensation.

Many individuals have not directly connected their cancer diagnosis with being exposed to the dangerous chemicals and toxins in the air at the time of the 9/11 attacks.

A New York woman is still seeking 9/11 compensation 11 years after a state trooper’s death. There were up to 4,000 members of the New York State Police who were sent to ground zero in the wake of the attacks on the World Trade Center in September 11, 2001.

Six years later, the trooper in question passed away from pancreatic cancer. The widow has been fighting to have her husband recognized in the state’s program as a 9/11 casualty because she believes that his cancer was directly caused by chemicals that he was exposed to or inhaled at the smoky site of the twin towers where more than 3,000 individuals died.

The government ruled after a three year delay that the cancer for that particular trooper was indeed caused by his service at ground zero. Substantial benefits may now be eligible to the widow.

Other people whose lives have been touched by the tragedy reaching back to 2001 may be eligible to receive compensation from the federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.

9/11 cancer compensation unfortunately, cannot ever help families fully recoup the losses they suffered in this tragic event. But it may be the only way for surviving family members to put the pieces of their life back together and to figure out how to move forward after losing a loved one due to a cancer diagnosis.

Although the specifics are still being studied in the medical community, exposure to dangerous chemicals and toxins at the site of ground zero mean that those who were working in and around the area may have been exposed to devastating side effects and this could ultimately lead to the development of cancer.

Some of these family members have lost loved ones due to the aggressive nature of the cancers diagnosed and this has left their families without appropriate financial support.

The 9/11 cancer compensation fund managed at the federal level enables those affected families to come forward and file for compensation, which may be the only way for them to recover the funds they need after the loss of a family member.

If you or someone you know has been directly affected by 9/11 cancer compensation, you may be eligible to participate in a compensation fund and should schedule a consultation with an attorney to see if you qualify for a class action lawsuit.

Navigating the complex and burdensome paperwork and strict deadlines to participate in the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund can be difficult. An experienced 9/11 Victim Fund attorney can help and ensure you get the maximum compensation available.

If you were present near Ground Zero, generally considered to be Lower Manhattan below Canal Street, between September 11, 2001 and May 31, 2002, and were diagnosed with cancer 4 years or more after exposure (or 1 year or more for blood and bone cancers), you may qualify for compensation.
