Victims and Families of Route 91 Festival Shooting Files LawsuitA group of victims of the Route 91 Festival shooting in Las Vegas, along with their families, have added a new lawsuit to the growing pile of litigation against MGM and Mandalay Bay for its part in the tragic events of that night.

According to the plaintiffs, Mandalay Bay was in part responsible for the severity of the Route 91 Festival shooting.

This most recent lawsuit, which includes several victims of the shooting and their families, claims that Mandalay Bay was negligent and had “inadequate, unreasonable, and egregiously deficient security.” According to the Route 91 Festival shooting lawsuit, this led to a number of extremely serious injuries for these plaintiffs.

One of the plaintiffs, Rachel S., was shot three times, causing her to nearly bleed to death and requiring four surgeries. Another plaintiff, Brian F., was shot in the chest and did not survive his injuries, leaving his two children and his wife behind. Jovanna C. was shot in the head, causing paralysis and permanent brain damage. Nicholas R. was shot in the chest, and required surgery and physical therapy.

Some of these plaintiffs were injured near their families, causing family members to suffer serious trauma as well. For instance, Jovanna was injured while her husband was trying to protect her from the gunfire.

According to the Route 91 Festival shooting lawsuit, these injuries were partially caused by Mandalay Bay’s negligence in securing the premises. In the days leading up to the horrific shooting, employees of Mandalay Bay allegedly “conveyed certain privileges to the shooter,” including helping him carry dozens of suitcase and bags into the room—which police later found contained a massive number of assault rifles.

Indeed, the lawsuit alleges that during the days leading up to the shooting, as the shooter was preparing for his horrible actions, Mandalay Bay and MGM “failed to exercise due care for the safety of its guests, deliberately ignoring countless signs of suspicion that, if noticed, would have prevented, or significantly thwarted, the shooter’s efforts.”

Ultimately, the lawsuit claims, this negligence contributed to the plaintiffs’ injuries, as well as the deaths of 58 people at the festival and thousands of injuries.

The Route 91 Festival shooting lawsuit was filed on June 22, 2018, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.

Filing a Route 91 Festival Shooting Lawsuit

Hundreds of victims have so far filed lawsuits against Mandalay Bay (owned by MGM) alleging negligence in its roles in the shooting, for allegedly having inadequate security policies, improperly training staff, failing to provide sufficient exits, and more.

Many are also suing Live Nation, as well as the estate of the shooter for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

A class action lawsuit investigation has been launched for victims. Those eligible to participate in this investigation include those who were inside the festival gates during the shooting—staff and attendees alike.
