Toyota has announced a recall of 591,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential issue with the infotainment system. This Toyota infotainment system recall affects a range of models, including the Venza, Crown, Crown Signia, RAV4, GR Corolla, 4Runner, Camry, Grand Highlander, Tacoma, Highlander, and specific Lexus models.

The problem lies in the 12.3-inch display screen, which may not activate upon vehicle startup or might turn off unexpectedly while driving, potentially leading to increased risks of accidents or injuries.

The recall was issued on Sept. 11, 2025, as noted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Toyota says affected customers will be informed by mid November. The company advises owners to bring their vehicles to a dealership for a software update or a replacement of the combination meter.

“Operating the vehicle with this display blank reduces the ability to see certain malfunction indicators,” the recall notice says.

Toyota recall includes 95,000 vehicles with a potential fault in the defroster

The recall also includes 95,000 electric vehicles, specifically the 2023-25 Toyota bZ4X, Lexus RZ, and Subaru Solterra models, due to a faulty defroster that could impair visibility.

This affects nearly 41,500 bZ4X, 32,320 Solterra, and 20,501 Lexus RZ units, all manufactured on the same platform. The issue with the defroster poses a safety risk, as it may compromise the driver’s visibility, according to the recall.

Toyota is taking proactive measures to rectify these issues. For vehicles affected by the Toyota infotainment system recall, Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect and update the programming of the combination meter or replace it with an improved version.

For vehicles with faulty defrosters, Toyota and Lexus dealers will update the programming of the affected electrical control unit, free of charge.

For more information about the Toyota recall, consumers can visit Toyota’s official recall page or the NHTSA website. Customers can also reach out to Toyota’s customer support hotline at 1-800-331-4331 for further assistance.

Toyota says it has not received any reports of injury or accidents related to the recalls so far. The company is not currently facing legal action due to the recalls, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In February, Toyota recalled more than 40,000 Lexus and Camry Hybrid vehicles over concerns their second-row center seat belts may be damaged.
