Tesla Cybertruck recall overview:

  • Who: Tesla is recalling 63,619 Cybertruck vehicles from model years 2024 to 2026.
  • Why: The Cybertruck recall is due to the vehicle’s front parking lights being too bright, which could impair the visibility of oncoming drivers.
  • Where: The parking lights recall is effective in the United States.

Tesla is recalling more than 60,000 of its Cybertruck vehicles from the 2024 to 2026 model years. The Cybertruck recall addresses an issue with the vehicle’s front parking lights, which are too bright and may hinder the visibility of oncoming drivers, posing a potential risk of accidents.

The recall, which applies to 63,619 Cybertrucks was announced on Oct.15, 2025, by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under campaign number 25V699000

It affects Cybertrucks running an operating software version prior to 2025.38.3. The vehicle controller software in these models allows the front parking lights to exceed the maximum light output, violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, which governs lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.

Tesla addresses parking light issue with software update

Tesla has responded to the issue by releasing an over-the-air (OTA) software update to rectify the problem. This update is provided free of charge to affected vehicle owners, according to the parking lights recall notice.

The company plans to send notification letters to owners starting Dec. 13, 2025, to inform them about the Cybertruck recall and the available remedy.

This update can be installed remotely, ensuring that owners do not need to visit a service center. Tesla has also provided a customer service hotline at 1-877-798-3752 for further assistance and inquiries regarding the parking lights recall.

Tesla says there have been no reports of injuries or accidents related to the overly bright parking lights so far. The company is not currently facing any legal action over the Cybertruck recall, but such recalls are closely monitored as they can sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Earlier in March this year, Tesla issued its 8th Cybertruck recall for more than 46,000 Cybertruck vehicles over concerns an exterior trim panel could detach, posing a road hazard.
