SkinnyDipped issued an allergy alert for some of its dark chocolate nut products as they may contain undeclared peanuts.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website posted the alert Jan. 20. The recall applies to some lots of SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Cocoa Almond 3.5oz and SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Cashew 3.5oz.
SkinnyDipped issued the alert due to an undeclared peanut allergen in an ingredient from a raw material supplier, the company says.
“People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products,” the SkinnyDipped recall states. “The recalled products do not declare peanuts in the ingredient statement or as a disclosed allergen.”
Do not eat the recalled product, SkinnyDipped recall says
SkinnyDipped sold the affected products in retail stores nationwide from Jan. 8, 2023, to Jan. 20, 2023, the alert states.
The recall includes SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Cashews, 3.5 oz., with UPC 8-51562-00841-2 and SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Cocoa Almonds, 3.5 oz., with UPC 8-61297-00030-8.
Consumers who have the recalled product should not eat it and should discard any product, while keeping any packaging to return to the retailer where it was purchased for a replacement or refund, the notice says.
No other SkinnyDipped products are part of the recall, and SkinnyDipped has not received any allergic reaction reports to date. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
