A man watching a blank or static screen of his television.A Samsung TV class action lawsuit investigation has recently been started over allegations of major plasma TV problems that customers have been experiencing. Currently there are at least three class action lawsuits filed against the company over reported plasma TV problems and disappointed customers.

Customers allege that plasma TV problems have led to premature device failure. If you purchased a Samsung TV device in Florida or New Jersey, you may also be eligible to join a Samsung TV class action lawsuit investigation.

Plasma TV Problems

Complaints of early device failure have been linked to Samsung plasma TV devices manufactured between Jan. 1, 2009 and Nov. 30, 2014. Customers who have experienced plasma TV problems report that their devices are failing much too early.

Although plasma TVs are not expected to last forever, they should still generally last at least eight years of regular use, say the TV owners. However, customers are reporting otherwise, claiming that defects associated with the device are causing them to fail much too soon.

In comparison to LED and LCD televisions, plasma TVs need more much energy to run. However, because of this energy, component parts of the TV may heat up too much. The heat may then cause damage allowing for the TV to fail prematurely. Extra energy may stress the components of plasma TVs, leading to damage.

The issue causing plasma TV problems is reportedly also linked to inferior component parts built into the Samsung plasma TVs. Consumers say these parts heat up and fail much too soon.

Accusations against Samsung say they use inferior component parts to sell their plasma TVs at a much more affordable price. Samsung plasma TVs are relatively much more expensive to make and manufacture, with plasma TVs ranging from $600 to $5,000 in price a piece.

Filing a Plasma TV Problems Lawsuit

An Illinois couple recently filed a class action lawsuit over Samsung plasma TV problems in February 2018. Affected devices included TVs manufactured between January 2009 and November 2014. Proposed Class Members were all residents for the state of Illinois who contended that their devices failed because of defects associated with the TVs.

According to the class action lawsuit, one man alleged that his plasma TV would continuously turn on and off and that this problem started before his warranty period was up. However, when he decided to get the TV repaired, he discovered that repair costs to fix the TV would be more than the cost for the plasma TV itself.

In fact, according to the class action lawsuit, many customers complained of similar circumstances. Samsung is being accused of using inferior parts to make their plasma TVs much more affordable. However, not only has this allegedly led to premature device failure, but customers who had tried to repair the TVs discovered that component parts had become unavailable after manufacturers ceased to make any more devices.
