Powerbeats 2 headphones, produced by Beats Electronics, were highly anticipated by users who expected them to deliver good performance and quality audio. The company was bought by Apple in 2014, and its products are now covered by the Apple warranty.
However, the hype about the product before its release before its release did not match the experiences reported by some consumers once they had purchased the item.
Powerbeats2 charging issues were among the biggest complaints over the wireless headphones designed for those who live an active lifestyle. The headphones were designed to be used during workouts by eliminating wire to the phone as well as resisting sweat during physical activity.
Customer after customer listed complaints that stated that the headphones held little charge shortly after they were purchased. The Powerbeats2 charging issues were so pronounced in some cases that the headphones simply stopped turning on after a few weeks or months of use.
One user who reviewed the product described her Powerbeats2 charging issues, stating “I love these. But then in December 2015 and they are broken by March. Won’t turn on even after troubleshooting etc. [D]isappointed.” The user goes on to state “Update. I bought my husband a pair a few months before mine broke and now his headphones are broken – same thing[,] won’t charge or turn on. So very disappointed in the [B]eats products. [W]ill never spend the money on this disposable junk again[.]”
Under the Apple warranty, the company offers three remedies within the first year if the product is defective. Their policy states they will repair the product, replaced the product or refund the purchase price to the customer.
Many customers have opted to have the product replaced so they can go on to use it as they expected to. However, consumers say that they are simply given another pair of headphones that has the same Powerbeats2 charging issues.
One such consumer titled the review “Worst Most Unreliable Product I Have Ever Purchased!!!” He states, “Okay, here it goes, I hate my Beats wireless headphones, they are a dog!!!!!! this is the third time my Power beats 2 Wireless Headphones have crapped out within a year. Today at the gym was the last straw. I wouldn’t take a replacement free pair that were hand delivered to my home. These headphones are good for about 2-4 weeks of use. Customer service was best spot. I had to go through a full to get them replaced the second time. My only regret is that I can read them a zero on the review. I believe the 1 star is too generous!!!!! I just drop them in the trash. I’m almost relieved that I won’t have to suck up to customer service for a fourth time.”
Many customers choose to purchase products that are little more expensive than they would normally spend if they trust the brand, and Apple certainly has a reputation for being a trusted brand among its devotees. They also may spend more if the product comes with a decent warranty. At about $150 a pair, many splurged on the headphones, not expecting that the Powerbeats2 charging issues would continue to give them problems again and again.
