Quest-Diagnostics-test-pricesPatients across America are facing expensive medical lab bills, including Quest Diagnostics lab prices, because their insurance companies allegedly refuse to cover them.

When insurance companies do not cover certain lab charges, some patients are faced with significantly more expensive bills for medical lab tests than what their insurance company would have been billed.

Some lab companies have been accused of taking advantage of this problem by trying to pocket as much from patients as possible.

Quest Diagnostics lab prices are at the center of this controversy, as Quest is the largest medical lab testing company for the American medical community. Quest Diagnostics conducts over 100 million medical laboratory tests each year, offering a variety of services for patients and clinics across the country.

However, patients question whether there isn’t a great discrepancy in Quest Diagnostics lab prices, resulting in insurance companies being billed at a discounted rate. Insurance companies often have fair market value rate agreements for set prices for medical lab fees with medical lab companies.

Patients who are not covered are not treated the same as insurance companies, sometimes being charged over 10 times the fair market value rates. This practice has already resulted in legal action, and other patients are likely to follow.

Overview of Medical Lab Fee Allegations

The higher Quest Diagnostics lab prices billed to uncovered patients has already resulted in legal action. One lab fees lawsuit filed by a group of patients alleged they were charged higher medical lab fees than what their insurance companies would have been charged.

The medical lab fees lawsuit alleged they had been hit with Quest Diagnostics lab prices on their medical bills when they had initially believed they would be charged the same rate as their insurance companies regardless of coverage.

One of the plaintiffs involved in the medical lab fees lawsuit, Lawrence C., was billed $218.48 for a homocysteine test.

According to Lawrence, he was charged 14.5 times the fair market value rate established between Aetna and Quest Diagnostics. The insurance company reportedly did not give him coverage because the medical test was considered “experimental or investigational” and not vital for the patient’s survival.

According to the lawsuit, Aetna only would have to pay $15.02 to Quest Diagnostics while Lawrence would not even have a copay. Lawrence filed this medical lab test prices lawsuit along with three other plaintiffs in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey.

Other patients who experienced high Quest Diagnostics lab prices may be able to file legal action against the medical lab companies. Potential claimants should contact a health insurance lawyer to determine eligibility for a medical lab fees lawsuit.

My Doctor sent the lab test request and on the form it showed the prices the total of all together came out to around $80. My doctor the. Again send for more test because my BWC was low and it was also a total of around $260 It turns out that I wasn’t covered by an insurance which i thought i did. The bills i received were one for $1290 and the other for $880 which is ridiculous. Then i asked for the application for financial aid or assistance and they were supposed to mail me one but never received instead they sent me to collection for one of the bills (the $1290 one) then I called them again to send me the financial assistance application and i did received it and filled out but they said that the bill the went to collection no longer applies for the financial assistance.

Hello did you ever get assistance on this? I am sitting on the same issue with a 1700 bloodwork bill due to me not being covered at time of treatment when I thought I was. I applied for financial assistance and it was taking them so long to communicate back and forth with me regarding the application through mail and extra info they requested by fax. Eventually in the middle of the process they just sent my bill to collections and I disputed it with collections and quest denied the dispute. so now im stuck with this bill hoping something can come of it.
