A husband and wife have initiated an asbestos lawsuit, claiming serious illness resulted from exposure to asbestos-containing products made by Carrier Corporation and other companies such as the Chicago Bridge & Iron Company and Clever-Brookes Inc.
The asbestos lawsuit alleges that the companies for whom one of the plaintiffs worked exposed him to asbestos fibers, ultimately leading to serious medical conditions. That plaintiff was diagnosed with mesothelioma in March 2018. Mesothelioma is an asbestos related disease that can develop after exposure to asbestos fibers.
Many people who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma could have been exposed to asbestos fibers decades before. The asbestos lawsuit says that the husband in the lawsuit was wrongfully exposed to and ingested, inhaled or otherwise absorbed asbestos fibers.
From the 1950s through the 1960s, the plaintiff in the asbestos lawsuit alleges he experienced continuous exposure to asbestos while performing maintenance on his cars while living in North Carolina. He says that he was exposed to equipment and products that contained asbestos, including Bendix brakes.
Furthermore, the plaintiff alleges in the asbestos lawsuit that he was exposed to these dangerous fibers while working in the United States Air Force as a refrigeration mechanic between 1956 and 1961.
The asbestos lawsuit says that over this time, he was regularly exposed to the dangerous behaviors that ultimately led to his development of mesothelioma. Many patients who are diagnosed with mesothelioma may suffer significant pain and will ultimately pass away from the disease. The determination of when a patient could have been exposed to these asbestos fibers is an important one as it could lead to the development of mesothelioma or other medical conditions.
Employees in a number of different industries may have been exposed to asbestos over a long period of time. Not easily noticed in the day to day work on the job, regular exposure might ultimately lead to the development of mesolthelioma and other series problems and injuries.
It can be hard for an employee to sometimes trace back exactly what situations in which they worked that could have led to asbestos-related problems. Discovering that you have been diagnosed with a major medical condition like mesothelioma is an unwelcome and unfortunate situation. It’s also one that could cause you to incur pain and financial damages.
That’s why many people who were exposed to asbestos on the job ultimately filed injury lawsuits against those they allege responsible for the injuries sustained. This may be the only way to achieve recovery many years after the initial asbestos exposure.
If you have been seriously hurt as a result of being exposed to asbestos at some point in your life, an asbestos lawsuit may help secure compensation to cover medical bills, lost income, and other losses. Many patients who have been seriously injured in this situation may be eligible to recover compensation after speaking to an attorney.
The Asbestos Lawsuit is Case No. 1:18-CV-00410 filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, Greensboro Division.
