At a bar in the Miami Dolphins’ stadium in September, a man was allegedly injured when a piece of the bar came loose and caused him serious injury, leading him to file his Miami Dolphins lawsuit.
The plaintiff, Jean M., alleges that on Sept. 23 at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida, he was waiting for a drink he ordered at the limited-access bar LIV when a portion of the bar broke free and dropped to the floor, hitting and injuring his foot on the way. The bar’s counter was made of a marble slab, and the piece that came loose and fell was extremely heavy, causing him serious pain.
According to Jean’s Miami Dolphins lawsuit, he “struggled to move his foot from underneath the stone slab and, while in agonizing pain, immediately requested medical attention.” However, his lawsuit alleges, the bar’s employees did not act nearly as quickly as they should have. “The defendants left Jean on display and in pain, in front of a large crowd of onlookers, for almost one hour,” the lawsuit alleges. After an hour, he was finally placed in an ambulance and brought to the hospital.
Why the delay? According to the Miami Dolphins lawsuit, personnel for the team and stadium neglected to bring medical help as quickly as possible because they were first trying to get Jean to agree to a legally binding statement—despite the fact that the injury was severe enough to nearly severe his toe, according to multiple media outlets. Jean was forced to undergo reconstructive surgery to reattach his toe, which had effectively been amputated.
Jean’s Miami Dolphin lawsuit alleges that his injuries were caused by the negligence of the stadium and the team, both because of the original injury and then the inadequate and delayed response that increased his suffering.
Filing a Personal Injury Lawsuit
Personal injury litigation like Jean’s Miami Dolphins lawsuit are filed over the alleged negligence of one or more parties. Other common kinds of personal injury lawsuits include car accidents, work injuries, slip and falls, medical malpractice, and dog bites, among others.
If you or a loved one has suffered from a personal injury because of someone else’s negligence, you may be able to file a lawsuit and seek compensation for your pain and suffering.
Of course, pursuing litigation can’t take away the pain and suffering caused by an injury like this, nor can it bring a loved one back to life—but it can at least help to provide some kind of financial compensation for the costs incurred by medical expenses and lost wages, as well as hold those responsible accountable for their negligence.
The Miami Dolphins Lawsuit is Case No. 2018-034300-CA-06, in the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida, General Jurisdiction Division.
