LG electric ranges class action overview:
- Who: Plaintiff Angel Solari filed a class action lawsuit against LG Electronics USA Inc.
- Why: Solari claims LG’s electric ranges pose a fire hazard due to a defect that allows the front-mounted knobs to be activated by accidental contact.
- Where: The LG ranges class action lawsuit was filed in New Jersey federal court.
A new class action lawsuit alleges LG Electronics sold electric ranges that pose a fire hazard due to a defect that allows the front-mounted knobs to be activated by accidental contact.
Plaintiff Angel Solari claims LG sold the allegedly defective ranges between 2015 and 2025 for between $1,400 and $2,650. LG recalled the ranges on Feb. 6, 2025, after receiving at least 86 reports of unintentional activation of the front-mounted knobs, according to the class action lawsuit.
Solari claims LG’s electric ranges have been involved in more than 28 fires, with at least five fires causing extensive property damage totaling more than $340,000. At least eight minor injuries, including burns, have been reported in connection with the allegedly defective LG ranges, the lawsuit says.
Solari wants to represent a nationwide class and a Mississippi subclass of consumers who purchased an LG range sold between 2015 and 2025. He claims LG is guilty of breach of express warranty, breach of implied warranty, unjust enrichment, violation of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, common law fraud, strict liability and negligence.
Plaintiff claims LG knew its electric ranges were defective
Solari argues LG knew or should have known that its electric ranges were defective but failed to disclose the defect to consumers. He claims LG continued to market its electric ranges as safe and reliable despite knowing about the defect.
Solari claims he purchased an LG range from Home Depot in 2021 and was not informed of any recalls or defects related to the product. The plaintiff argues he only learned about the defect through social media.
Solari claims the value of his LG range has been devalued by the recall and the defect. The plaintiff argues he would not have purchased the LG range had he known about the defect.
Solari is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of damages for himself and all class members.
In 2022, LG was hit with a class action lawsuit alleging it sold ranges with defective knobs that could turn on unintentionally, causing fires in people’s homes.

How do I join the class action lawsuit? We had the range turn on accidentally from an animal. Almost lost the house. Thousands of dollars in damage. Months outside of the house. etc. A disaster.
We just had our LG range removed and replaced with another brand. The knobs were constantly a problem. It made sounds that you couldn’t imagine while baking. It finally burned itself up on self clean mode and you couldn’t open the oven door. It has to be unplugged . I’m so glad it’s gone.
My kitchen caught on fire at 1:40am with 8 minors inside with some sleeping at the time, due to a pizza box left on a LG electric range with front controls that I purchased brand new in November of 2022 from Best Buy, either one of the children or dogs bumped the burner knob not knowing. The fire marshal said my family of six and 2 dogs will be out of house for at least 6-9 months. LG risked my entire family’s lives allowing these stoves to remain in families homes. Luckily know body or animal was hurt but this traumatic event could have been totally avoided or even tragic.
