Las Vegas Shooting Victims May Be Eligible For Financial Assistance Through Legal ActionLas Vegas shooting victims and their families may be eligible to file a lawsuit seeking compensation for damages sustained during the tragic shooting.

On Oct. 1, 2017, a gunman shot down from Mandalay Bay onto the Route 91 Harvest music festival, leaving 58 people dead and 546 injured. Over the course of a few days previous to the shooting, the shooter smuggled weapons and ammunition into his hotel room, allowing him to continuously open fire on the Las Vegas shooting victims below.

Many Las Vegas shooting victims sustained multiple physical and emotional injuries. Victims and their families have experienced damages including medical bills, missed work, disability, pain and suffering and the continued costs of counseling. Families whose loved ones died in the shooting have sustained additional damages from wrongful death and funeral costs.

Due to the massive amounts of damages sustained, Las Vegas shooting victims can apply for financial aid from state programs or non-profit funds. However, many Las Vegas shooting victims are having their applications denied after being deemed “not injured enough.”

These victims may be eligible to seek compensation in a lawsuit. Lawsuits have been filed against MGM Resorts International, the owner of Mandalay Bay Resort; Live Nation, the Route 91 Harvest festival organizer; and the $5 million estate of the deceased gunman.

Las Vegas shooting victims have accused MGM Resorts of having inadequate security policy, improperly training their staff, not sufficiently surveilling the premises and negligently allowing the shooter access to a service elevator.

These actions allegedly allowed the shooter to effectively stockpile weapons as well as rain down fire on the festival for an extended period of time due to inadequate response times. Lawsuits against the company argue that MGM Resorts is liable for damages sustained by Las Vegas shooting victims due to negligence.

Lawsuits also name Live Nation, the music festival organizer, in lawsuits which allege that their policies made it more difficult for Las Vegas shooting victims to escape.

Plaintiffs accuse Live Nation of failing to provide enough exits, improperly training staff and failing to broadcast evacuation instructions. Las Vegas shooting victims in lawsuits claim that these behaviors made it harder to escape, resulting in more injuries and deaths.

Plaintiffs have also aimed to hold the shooter’s estate accountable, accusing him of assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Although the shooter from the Las Vegas shooting is deceased, lawsuits hold his $5 million estate accountable for his crimes.

If Las Vegas shooting victims were unable to seek compensation through state and non-profit funds, a lawsuit may be able to provide financial assistance. Legal action could also pressure companies to reevaluate their policies, making their environments safer and preventing further tragedies.

If you or a loved one were inside the festival gates during the Las Vegas shooting, you may be eligible for compensation through legal action.

A lawsuit could help Las Vegas shooting victims recover compensation for medical expenses, lost earnings, disability, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, wrongful death or more. Eligible Las Vegas shooting victims should speak to a qualified attorney for a case evaluation.
