MGM Resorts International and Mandalay Corporation are facing a liability claim from a group of Las Vegas shooting victims, alleging the hotel and resort company’s lack of security had allowed the shooter to conduct his rampage.
According to the claim, these Las Vegas shooting victims were injured during the horrific massacre at the Route 91 Harvest Festival and opted to file legal action against the resort company after discovering a lack of security in the establishment.
The Las Vegas shooting victims’ allegations include the fact that the shooter was able to get numerous weapons and ammunition to his hotel without much difficulty and that he was able to install security cameras in the hallway his room was on without any trouble.
The Las Vegas shooting victims are from California and Nevada, and are jointly filing this liability lawsuit due to the similar nature of their injuries. The plaintiffs are Paige G., Alan L., Richard C., Ashley-Dawn M., and Connie C., each of whom says they attended the three day music festival to listen to the various music acts.
According to the complaint, while the plaintiffs were enjoying a performance by country music star Jason Aldean, the shooter began firing numerous bullets into the crowd. He reportedly smashed the windows of his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the hotel, and fired numerous rounds of bullets into the crowd. The Las Vegas shooting victims involved in the lawsuit say they tried to escape the chaos, but sustained serious injuries.
Overall 546 people were injured and 58 people died from the Las Vegas shooting incident on Oct. 1, 2017, with many of the Las Vegas shooting victims sustaining serious physical and psychological injuries.
Numerous Las Vegas victim shootings have reported developing PTSD and other psychological disorders from the attack and say they have had their lives severely compromised because of these conditions.
Overview of Las Vegas Shooting Investigation
Numerous other Las Vegas shooting victims have opted to file similar claims, including people who were trapped inside the gates of the festival during the shooting. These claims have recently spurred a class action investigation into MGM Resorts and Mandalay Corporation for allegedly having insufficient security measures that allowed Paddock to commit his attack.
The plaintiffs say the shooter had been given ample privacy to organize his attack by simply putting a do-not-disturb sign on his door for several days before the shooting, which allowed him to sneak his guns and ammunition to his room. The shooter was also reportedly allowed to install security cameras on his floor and on a service cart, to monitor the hallways and allegedly prolong his shooting rampage.
Given the amount of security measures the shooter was able to take for himself, as well as the number of guns he sneaked into his room, MGM Resorts International and Mandalay Corporation are facing major public scrutiny for allegedly having insufficient security at their resorts.
Thousands of Las Vegas shooting victims have applied for financial assistance from state programs, A non-profit Las Vegas Victims Fund has been established to help distribute the $22 million raised in the wake of the attack.
This Las Vegas Shooting Lawsuit is Case No. BC684143, in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles- Central District.
