- Where: The recall is active in the United States.
Stellantis North America is recalling more than 91,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plug-In Hybrid Electric SUVs due to a critical software issue. The affected models, spanning from 2022 to 2026, may experience a loss of drive power because of an error in the hybrid control processor, posing a potential risk of crashes.
“A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash,” the recall notice says.
The recall was officially issued on Sept. 4, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, has not yet developed a solution for this issue, as confirmed by the NHTSA.
Jeep owners urged to check VINs for recall status
Stellantis is currently developing a remedy to address the software issue in the affected vehicles. The company has committed to notifying all owners once a solution is available and will provide instructions on how to proceed with the necessary repairs.
The automaker has advised owners in the meantime to check whether their vehicle is part of the Jeep recall by searching the Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) on the NHTSA website.
The company has also provided a customer service contact number, 800-853-1403, for further assistance. The company’s internal recall number for this issue is 73C.
Stellantis says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the Jeep recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In other recent recalls, Stellantis issued a notice in July for more than 250,000 Pacifica and Voyager minivans, year models 2022 to 2025 for, due to a potential airbag defect.

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited , my Auto Start/Stop light has come on, and check engine light , it is now misfiring , but when they do the scan to see what’s wrong . ONLY 1 cylinder is showing an error message. Took it somewhere else and a different cylinder, now it is a total of 3 cyclinders misfiring, but the codes are not accurate. Car is driving like a lemon right now. I’ve just made a year of having it in August
My 2019 jeep grand Cherokee put me over an embankment, my jeep is totaled. I had it to service the week prior to this for the brake recall they said there wasn’t a fix for it. Then this happens, I called Jeep they won’t even talk to me about it. My insurance denied the claim said it’s a Jeep problem. So if ya don’t have a vehicle ya don’t have a job. I’m a single mother, I’m far from rich to buy another vehicle.
2013 Jeep compass – moldules keep going out the dealership says – i ask for the old one back as they are charging me 3 times the part price for mopar original they say but are 1/3 the cost on internet from retailers. 3 different modules replaced in less than 12 months each time it sends it into limp mode so it can not be driven. Auto shop tried to run codes and it always comes up as a dealer item only – $1300 to $1700 each visit to dealer not counting auto shop costs.

Mine has been at the dealership for 4 months because of this. Entering arbitration next month to try and get it bought back from me. They made an unsafe car and the fix for that made it even more unsafe.
I’m a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe owner with just under 36k. Jeep has extended my warranty 75k and 60 months. The dealer still has my vehicle so they’ve provided a loaner.
