- Where: The recall is effective in the United States.
Chrysler has issued a recall for more than 24,000 Jeep Wrangler 4XE Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicles due to a software update issue that may result in a loss of drive power.
The recall affects models from 2023 to 2025, and the problem stems from an over-the-air (OTA) software update glitch.
The recall was announced on Oct. 28, 2025, by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to the NHTSA, a software error in the OTA update could cause the vehicle to lose drive power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
Drivers can expect a notification letter after Nov. 25
Chrysler is currently developing a solution to address the issue. Owners of the affected vehicles will receive a notification letter by mail after Nov. 25, informing them of the recall and the steps to take.
In the meantime, they can contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 for further assistance. Chrysler’s internal recall number for this issue is A7C, and the NHTSA campaign number is 25V710000.
Consumers can find more details about the recall and check whether their vehicle is affected by searching its identification number on the NHTSA website.
Chrysler says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Currently, however, Chrysler is facing accusations that its 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Jeep Gladiator models have defects in the vehicles’ power steering pump electrical connector or high-voltage battery that can result in spontaneous underhood fires.
