HughesNet Satellite Internet Class Action Settlement
By Mike Holter

Hughes Communications has reached a class action lawsuit settlement that will provide either $5 or $40 cash to certain former HughesNet satellite internet subscribers.
The HughesNet settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, entitled Walter v. Hughes Communications, that alleges Hughes misrepresented the actual speed of its HughesNet internet service, unjustly cut off customers from their Internet for violating the company’s “Fair Access Policy,” and charged improper Early Termination Fees.
Class Members of the HughesNet class action settlement include everyone in the U.S. who, at any time from May 15, 2005 to March 2, 2012, subscribed to any of the following Hughes Consumer Service Plans: Home, Pro, Pro Plus, Small Office, Business Internet, Elite, ElitePlus, ElitePremium, Basic, Power 150 and Power 200.
As part of the class action lawsuit settlement, Hughes has agreed to make cash payments to eligible Class Members who submit a valid claim form postmarked no later than September 28, 2012. Claim forms can be downloaded or submitted online at www.SatelliteInternetSettlement.com.
Class Members who paid an Early Termination Fee before December 6, 2010 will get $40 from the class action settlement, while Class Members who were no longer a Hughes Consumer Plan subscriber as of March 2, 2012 and did not pay an ETF before December 6, 2010 will receive $5.

They took money out of my account and wasnt authorized we never had service and when we canceled they still took money out
Hugesnet misrepresented their Internet Everytime I would try and cancel they would say you can’t cancel until your bill is due. The Internet is very slow speed I’m always having trouble connecting. So I let my service get disconnected called them to come get the equipment and they say it will be a charge of $100 to have it picked up I asked for an address to send it to and they put me on hold and didn’t come back refused to give me address I called back they said they waiting on the details for cancellation HUGESNET SUCKS BIG TIME
Worst internet service I have ever had !!!!! Hope all those aholes choke & drop dead
They offered us a 3 month free internet with no deposit and billing . Now the first month bringing bogus charges. They should be accountable and punished for the scamming ppl.
On July 27 2024 hughnet came to my home to install internet. Even though our connection was suppose to be frontier. They installed a satellite and changed me $50 extra dollars to do so even though I specifically said “I do not want satellite internet”. We tell the tech this isn’t what we wanted and to just cancel the service. He says I’ve already installed it discuss it with highanet, I’m just a sub contractor. So we do so and they ask we stay for atleast a month to try. Month goes by and everyday we have to reconnect our tv’s every hour and one tv doesn’t connect at all. I received an email saying our payment was due on 8/31, but no information on the amount. I log into my hughsnet an the statement shown said $0.00 due 8/10. Then on 8/31/24 I recieve an email that I had insufficient funds for payment. I log back in and it now states $140.50 due on 9/10/24. I also recieve another email stating that I will not recieve our $5 off because we did not sign up for autopsy. Yet they’re consistently trying to pull money out of my account. I call and ask what the hells going on. They tell me their is a grace period of ten days that is why it states bill due 10 days past the email date. I also ask how is a bill due when I paid the first bill upon installation. They said it’s for September. Paying for the month ahead. This same day the internet is fully down. No tv will connect at all. No phones will connect. Stating connected without internet. We call to inform them and they attempt to charge us with $150 fee for a technician to come and see what’s wrong with their brand new equipment. We cancel. Atleast we thought. Takes 2 more calls to complete the cancelation. Receptionist states that my bill wasn’t due until 9/31 and there will be no cancelation fees. Then on 9/12/24 another attempt at my account was made. For $479.69 for early cancelation. What the actual hell is happening right now.
