Good Matters candles recall overview:

  • Who: Advantage Sales & Marketing has recalled more than 30,000 of its Good Matters-brand three-wick candles.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the candles burn too hot, causing the glass jars encasing them to shatter and create a fire and laceration hazard.
  • Where: Nationwide.

Advantage Sales & Marketing has recalled around 30,100 of its Good Matters-brand three-wick candles over concerns they can burn too hot, causing the glass jar encasing the candle to break and create a fire and laceration hazard.

The recalled Good Matters candles were sold in 21-ounce glass tumblers with a wooden lid and come in a variety of colors, including black, white, blue, yellow and pink, according to a recall posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Good Matters is advising consumers to “immediately stop using the recalled candles” and to contact them to receive instruction on how to cut their wicks and dispose of them for a full refund.

The recalled Good Matters candles were sold for around $50 from between December 2021 and August 2022 at several retail stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon and goodmatterscandles.com

Good Matters has received four reports of recalled candles catching on fire, cracking or breaking apart

Good Matters said it has received four reports of the recalled candles either catching on fire, cracking or breaking apart during use, causing minor property damage. The company has received one report of a consumer suffering a burn injury.

Consumers who want more information about the recall can contact Good Matters directly by phone at 888-470-4276 or online

In 2019, Hallmark similarly recalled certain of its frosted balsam jar candles over concerns that the glass jars encasing the candles could break from the exposed flame, creating a laceration and fire risk.
