GM sold vehicles with defective paint, class action claims
A group of GM vehicle owners filed a class action lawsuit against the automaker earlier this month over claims it used defective paint that is prone to cracking, clouding and delaminating.
The class action lawsuit argues GM used the allegedly defective paint on its model year 2015-2020 Chevrolet Tahoes, 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburbans, 2015-2020 GMC Yukons, 2015-2020 GMC Yukon XLs and 2015-2020 Cadillac Escalades.
“Although the defect manifested over time, (General Motors) knew or should have known of those issues prior to sale of the (vehicles); yet GM continued to put the latently defective class vehicles on the market,” the GM class action says.
Class actions claiming GM improperly collected, shared driver data consolidated
In June, several class action lawsuits filed against GM, OnStar, LexisNexis and Verisk Analytics over driver data collection claims were consolidated in a Georgia federal court.
The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation determined Georgia was the place to consolidate the class action lawsuits because it is the home of LexisNexis, which GM is alleged to have shared driver data with without consent.
Consumers argue the allegedly unlawful data sharing between GM and LexisNexis caused their insurance premiums to increase.
The plaintiffs filed the class action lawsuits in the wake of a congressional inquiry, which preceded Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., asking the Federal Trade Commission to investigate automakers’ data privacy practices.
GM reaches $50M settlement over allegedly defective CP4 fuel pumps
GM reached a preliminary $50 million settlement agreement with a class of vehicle owners earlier this month. The settlement ends claims the automaker sold certain vehicles with CP4 fuel pumps containing “catastrophic” complications.
The vehicle owners argued GM knowingly sold diesel trucks containing the allegedly defective CP4 fuel pumps, which were supplied by Bosch.
The settlement will benefit a class of truck owners who had to pay out-of-pocket for repairs to their engines on account of the alleged defect, as well as a class of former owners who argued they overpaid for their vehicles.
GM, LG agree to $150 million to end claims Chevy Bolt vehicles sold with defective batteries
In May, GM and LG agreed to a $150 million class action settlement to resolve claims it manufactured more than 100,000 model year 2017-2022 Chevrolet Bolt vehicles with batteries that can overheat.
The settlement benefits a class of Chevrolet Bolt vehicle owners and lessees who argued their vehicle batteries can overheat and catch on fire when fully charged.

I own a 2015 Suburban and have awful rust along the running boards and back fenders. Contacted my dealership because I also purchased paint protection and undercoating and started rising after 8 years. No response from dealership and will be thousands and thousands to fix.
How about a new suit regarding Onstar being advertised in GMC products in the features then saying it is only free for 2 months. Seems like false advertising.
Two days ago, my 2024 GMC Sierra AT4X with a 6.2 L engine and only 6900 miles, suffered a catastrophic engine failure. The wheels momentarily locked up and skidded, then I lost power and a loud clanking noise started in the engine. The engine then stalled. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and learned other vehicles have had similar breakdowns. I have also learned the NHTSA has initiated an investigation into 39 reported instances of catastrophic engine failure in the GM 6.2 L motor. I’m curious if any class action suits have been filed regarding this significant problem. Had I been on snowy or icy pavement, I may have had a significant and serious collision. I’m NOT happy about this.
I have a 2020 GMC AT4 sierra 3500. I’ve had nothing but problems with this vehicle within the first month of owning it. This vehicle is on its third transmission and it doesn’t seem to shift right still. I have had nothing but trouble with the emissions on this vehicle. I have sensors going out all the time. I’ve tried to deal with these issues with the dealership and I have gotten nothing but the he run a round. I brought it in because it leaks antifreeze and they told me that there was nothing wrong. It’s still leaking antifreeze. Hands down the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. For eighty thousand dollars you would think that you wouldn’t have any issues with the vehicle.
