Ford recall on the f250 pickup trucks didn't work, consumers claim.

Vehicle owners are complaining that a 2019 Ford recall over a tailgate issue didn’t actually fix the problem.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating 11 complaints that have been made regarding a recall of power tailgates on 300,000 Super Duty pickup trucks, alleging that the issues have not been resolved, according to ABC News. The agency has also reported receiving complaints of unintended tailgate openings, after the repairs were meant to have been made.

Ford does not currently face legal action over the recalled vehicles, but Top Class Actions tracks recalls because they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

In 2019 Ford announced a recall on 2017-20 Super Duty pickups F-250, F-350 and F-450 over an unexpected issue that resulted in power tailgates opening while the vehicle was being driven. The tailgate defect could result in unrestrained cargo falling out from the back of the truck.

Ford Tailgate Recall Cause Previously Addressed in a Safety Report

The cause of the defect was claimed to be from water entering the electrical wiring system that may cause a short circuit resulting in the unintended switch activation and release of the tailgate latches, according to a NHTSA safety recall report

The report stated that remedy to the issue was the addition of jumper pigtails to the tailgate release control circuits and the installation of a new tailgate handle release switch, however, even after repairs were made consumers complained to the NHTSA that their vehicles were still experiencing the issue.

The agency is currently investigating how the defects are occurring, and if there are any safety hazards. It is possible that the NHTSA investigation may lead to further recalls to rectify the issue.

TCA reached out to Ford for comment on the defect and will update the story when we hear back.

Potentially defective tailgates are just the latest issue Ford has been facing recently. Vehicle owners have reported a range of problems with the vehicles, and the company has issued a number of recalls. On Tuesday the NHTSA announced it is forcing Ford Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. to recall more than 3 million vehicles for potentially lethal air bag issues.

In October 2014, a Ford tailgate class action lawsuit was filed alleging Ford produced a variety of vehicles with defective tailgates.

Hi, I have 2019 4. If 150I only had a few months looking truck clean inside clean outside I got it had less than a 100000 miles, right out of a 100000 miles on it, have a steel locking rolling bedcover the locks tailgate locks before it’s had a massive recall. On the tailgate’s just opening on that year model and a couple, I think there were one before it. And the one after that, as you’re going down the road, just don’t even know it, there’s no siren that goes off or some nothing. I’m going down the road, I guess tailgate drops, don’t hear it. 5 or $10000. Will the tools fall out of it I get, I’m out in the country. I get all the way into town to a gas station and get out tail gets down, thinking, holy smokes. It’s still locked. And I just come from another gas station way out in the country and I know for a fact that it was shut when I walked out. I dropped a friend off in between the 2 places gas stations. And she said that pretty 100 and simply positive tailgate was shut was not up. I get into town to the next gas station, tailgates down was still locked by said Ford had a major recall on these here, but I’ve lost a lot of tools. I don’t think the insurance may be gonna cover, maybe not gonna cover the my issue is here. If that’s something like that happens, it flies out. I mean, am I liable, am I gonna get sued or or is it Ford because of the faulty? Tailga.\n Tes that are opening, that’s letting stuff fly out the back. I’m not talking about stuff that’s sticking above the tailgate, or anything like that, like I said, I have a rolling steel locking bed, and you shut the tailgate and lock it, you don’t expect it to come open, I had 2 massive tool bags, a massive toolbox, a fully decked out electrician’s backpack, not including rolling polls, a number of things almost probably saved between 5 and 8000 dollars worth of tools, and then I get to town. In the back in bed, and my truck is completely empty rush back to there was a couple kids there that I was able to to get one of my fold up big Werner ladder. The girl I just dropped off, she jumped in her vehicle. And she found only one saw, but no I don’t don’t know who is, you know, I’ve been gone for almost an hour, so it gives people plenty of time to pick up the the toolboxes, the bags anyways, I’m out thousands of dollars in Tools to the point that I’m almost out of business, I don’t have a hammer take measure. I mean, a socket, it’s everything I had was in back d*** truck. And yeah. Ford’s major issue recall on the truck, so the tailgate’s falling open same your model as I got, and I said, I know when I come out of the gas station, the first one that we stopped by the tailgate was shut, she said whenever I dropped her off, tailgate was shut. I get all the way into town tailgate is open still locked. I never heard anything come out the back or seen it come out the back. But it’s night time, I’ve got a big cover again that that’s over and So you can’t see into the bed, but I’m curious curious what the what’s my best plan of attack or recourse to take to get my get my tools reimbursed. I mean, but right now I’m out of business. I mean, I can’t go to work, I can’t paint a room. I mean every hand tool. I own all my sheetrock, knives, everything was in the bed of my truck and I said, well, how am I supposed to, you know, like I said to me, putting it under a secure locked steel rolling, top and shutting the tailgate and then keeping it locked too I mean, how else better Secure your load and pick up truck. It’s not likeHi, I have 2019 4. And\nYou know, what happens if it was been somebody behind me and all that stuff would come out calls into the wreck.I mean, it’s 40 falter, might fault.I mean , I didn’t build a s***** tailgate? Yes, I’m just looking for some guidance and some advice here.I don’t really know which way to go I mean , i’m sure why take some kind of legal action of some sort , i’m sure that they’re gonna surround the d*** wagons and^..
