Ford Motor Co. issued a recall for more than 35,000 model year 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator sport utility vehicles (SUVs) over concerns the light-emitting diode (LED) logo lights on their exterior mirrors could short-circuit.
The recall involves 35,328 Lincoln Navigator vehicles produced between Jan. 17, 2014, and June 30, 2017, and equipped with potentially defective exterior mirror assemblies.
The automaker said it is concerned the LED logo lamps located in the driver and passenger side exterior mirror assemblies could short-circuit without triggering the vehicles’ short detection threshold, posing a fire risk.
“An electrical short circuit in the exterior mirror increases the risk of fire,” the Lincoln Navigator recall says.
Ford dealers to disconnect LED light wires on recalled Lincoln Navigator SUVs
Ford said it plans to fix the issue by having its dealers disconnect the LED light wires on the recalled Lincoln Navigator vehicles at no cost.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on March 24, 2025, according to the recall.
Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact Ford customer service by phone at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.
In February 2024, Ford issued a separate recall for more than 77,000 of its model year 2018-2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles over concerns they were equipped with potentially defective front and/or passenger seat belts.

One thought on Ford recalls Lincoln Navigator SUVs over LED logo light short circuit
I’m affected by the light recall and the fix they have come up with is unacceptable. We paid for these features and should be compensated if they are to be taken away. It is only a matter of time before they start eliminating everything so you will be forced to buy another vehicle. What slippery slope have they started.
