Ford has announced a recall affecting nearly 48,000 vehicles from its 2025 model year lineup due to a critical issue with the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. This defect can result in a sudden loss of drive power, posing a significant risk of crashes.
The recall was officially issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on March 3, 2026. It involves various models, including the 2025 Ford Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus, Mustang, Maverick, Explorer, Ford Escape, Lincoln Corsair, Bronco Sport and Bronco.
According to the recall, the EGR valve may fail, leading to a loss of drive power, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Recall: Ford working to fix the issue by September
Ford is actively working on developing a remedy for the EGR valve issue. However, as of now, no repair solution is available. The company plans to notify vehicle owners once a fix has been determined.
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive two notifications from Ford. The first letter, informing them of the safety risk, is being sent out this week. A second letter, detailing the final remedy, is expected to be dispatched in September 2026.
“Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332,” the recall notice advises, providing a direct line for inquiries.
The vehicle identification numbers (VINs) involved in this Ford recall became searchable on the NHTSA website as of March 4.
For further information regarding the Ford recall, consumers can visit the NHTSA website or contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford’s internal recall number for this issue is 26S10.
Ford says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the Ford recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Late last year, Ford recalled nearly 273,000 vehicles due to a defect in the integrated park module, offering an updated software solution.
