Ford Motor Co. is recalling 229,609 model year 2025 and 2026 Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport vehicles due to a malfunction in the instrument panel cluster.
This defect could prevent the display of critical information such as warning lights and vehicle speed, posing an increased risk of a crash.
The recall notice was issued Nov. 14 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The issue involves the instrument panel cluster, which may not function properly at startup, potentially leading to a failure in displaying essential driving information.
“An instrument panel display that does not show critical information, such as warning lights or vehicle speed, increases the risk of a crash,” the Ford recall notice says..
Ford to issue free over-the-air software update, recall says
Ford says the problem can be resolved through a software update, which will be provided free of charge. This update can be performed by a dealer or via an over-the-air (OTA) update, offering convenience to vehicle owners.
Owners can expect to receive alerts via email after Dec. 8, but in the meantime they can also contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332. For reference, the internal recall number is 25SC3.
This update can be conducted at authorized dealerships or through an over-the-air update, allowing for flexibility in addressing the issue.
Ford says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In October, Ford recalled more than 163,000 Ford Bronco vehicles from model years 2021 to 2023 due to a potential safety issue with the driver’s seat frame.
