Ford recently announced recalls for Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Maverick, Ford Escape, Lincoln Corsair, Ford Super Duty, Ford Flex, Ford Fiesta, Lincoln MKT and Ford F-150 Lightning battery electric vehicles.
The automaker initiated the recalls over batteries, rearview cameras and fuel pumps, among other things.
An automaker may choose to initiate a vehicle recall if it finds an issue with the vehicles may endanger drivers, passengers and other vehicles and/or pedestrians on the roadway.
Ford recalls Bronco Sport, Maverick vehicles over possible loss of drive power
Ford issued a recall for more than 270,000 model year 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and model year 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles last month over concerns their 12-volt battery could fail, leading to a loss of drive power or electrical accessories, increasing the risk of an accident.
“A loss of motive power can increase the risk of a crash,” the Ford recall says.
Ford previously recalled the Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick in April 2024. These vehicles are also subject to the new recall.
Ford recalls 20K+ Escape, Lincoln Corsair vehicles over battery defect
Ford issued a recall for more than 20,000 model year 2020-2024 Ford Escape vehicles and model year 2021-2024 Lincoln Corsair vehicles in December over concerns a manufacturing defect could cause their batteries to fail.
“Battery failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash,” the Ford recall states. “Battery failure can also increase the risk of a fire.”
Ford says it plans to remedy the issue by having its dealers perform a battery control module software update and replace the vehicles’ high voltage battery pack if needed free of charge.
Ford recalls 295K+ Super Duty pickup trucks over faulty fuel pumps
Ford issued a recall for more than 295,000 Ford Super Duty pickup trucks in December over concerns they may have faulty fuel pumps.
The recall involves 295,449 model year 2020-2022 Super Duty F250, F350, F450, F550, F600, and 2021-2022 F-650, F750 vehicles.
Ford says a high pressure fuel pump failure could cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the recall notice.
The automaker says it plans to fix the issue by having its dealers update the powertrain control module software in the recalled vehicles free of charge.
Ford recalls 30K+ Flex, Fiesta, Lincoln MKT vehicles over rearview cameras
Ford issued a recall for more than 30,000 Ford Flex, Ford Fiesta and Lincoln MKT vehicles in December over concerns they may contain faulty rearview cameras.
The recall involves 30,715 Ford Motor Company model year 2019 Flex, Fiesta and Lincoln MKT vehicles.
Ford says the recalled vehicles’ rearview cameras may contain a defect that causes them to intermittently display a blank or distorted image, increasing the possibility of an accident, the recall notice states.
“A rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image can reduce the driver’s view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” the recall says.
Ford says it will instruct individuals affected by the recall to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have a fix performed at no cost once it determines a remedy.
Ford recalls F-150 Lightning BEVs over possible loss of steering control
Ford issued a recall for nearly 12,000 F-150 Lightning battery electric vehicles in December over concerns the trucks contain a defect that could cause a loss of steering control.
The recall involves a total of 11,922 model year 2023-2024 Ford F-150 Lightning battery electric vehicles.
Ford says an issue with the tightening of the vehicles’ front upper control arm ball joint could cause the front upper control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly, causing a loss of vehicle steering and control and increasing the risk of a crash, according to the recall notice.
The automaker says it plans to remedy the problem by inspecting the recalled vehicles’ upper control arm ball joint and fixing the tightening issue free of charge.
