- Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the vehicles’ 12-volt battery can fail, leading to a loss of drive power or electrical accessories.
- Where: The recall affects consumers nationwide.
Ford Motor Co. issued a recall for more than 270,000 model year 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and model year 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles over concerns their 12-volt battery can fail.
The automaker said it is concerned the recalled Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick vehicles’ battery could experience degradation and suddenly fail, causing a loss of drive power or a loss of electrical accessories — including hazard lights.
“A loss of motive power can increase the risk of a crash,” the Ford recall says.
The recalled Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick vehicles were previously repaired under a separate recall initiated in April 2024, but must now have the new remedy completed, according to the recall notice.
Ford dealers to inspect, replace 12-volt battery as necessary
Ford said it plans to remedy the issue by having its dealers inspect and replace as necessary the 12-volt battery in the recalled Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick vehicles, free of charge.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by Feb. 3, 2025, according to the recall.
Individuals with more questions can contact Ford by phone at 1-866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
Ford issued a separate recall for more than 20,000 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles in December over concerns a manufacturing defect could cause battery failure.

Received letter, said no fix available yet, but warned of vehicle stalling while driving. Not safe. Mentioned, we are not telling you to not drive your vehicle yet at this time 🙄 I guess until enough people are killed.
My 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid was NOT included in the recall but it had the same thing happen to it. When are they going to expand the list of VINs affected! This is BS.
i have a 2023 for maverick. first new vehicle ever. i love it, but the recalls ?? too many. i got 2 of the latest recalls, and went to get them done, but the ford place said they didn’t have the parts, and when they get them i will get new recall notices to come back and get them done. still have not gotten the 2nd set of recall notices. one of the has to do with my back up camera, which has failed me twice. as i sit in my truck sometimes it seems as my truck stops running, radio and everything quits for a few seconds, that is really making me nervous. i am into my 2nd year having my truck, but i am getting over the recalls. too many. having the camera problem is a bit serious. i wonder if i can get help getting a small car that is possibly a 2023 as well and just do an even trade and still pay the finance company i am with. there is also a fact that i have fallen into a financial problem, and it is also getting harder and harder to afford my 546.48 a month. altho i am getting it all straightened out i am on disability and need less stress. this is not a sob story, it is fact. i had to get another place ( long story) family problems. so my monthly check is gone after rent car payment, and insurance. so i work to try and stay ahead and pay all the rest of my bills, and still get the help i need from my disability. if i had a smaller vehicle with a smaller payment that would ease some of my problems. even a 4 or 5 year old smaller car. if you email me to call and chat i will. instead of the last recall can you just help me get a trade. thank you so much for reading. della york
