There are only a few days left for eligible Class Members to file a claim for the DVD drive class action settlement.
If you purchased a computer that includes an internal optical disk drive or if you purchased a separate optical disk drive designed to be used with a computer, you may be entitled to a cash payment.
The deadline to file a claim for the DVD drive settlement is Oct. 30, 2017, so act quickly if you qualify! It only takes a few minutes to file a claim online.
There is no limit to the number of drives that can be claimed, and no proof of purchase is required to file a claim. However, claimants should only report the number of devices and/or drives they would testify to at trial under penalty of perjury.
The DVD drive class action settlement will resolve claims against a group of electronics companies who were accused of conspiring to fix the prices of optical disk drives, which are devices that allow data to be read from and/or written to DVDs, CDs and other computer software storage.
Optical disk drives such as DVD-RW, DVD-ROM or COMBO drives, are included in a variety of consumer electronic devices, including laptops and desktop computers.
The settling defendants include Koninklijke Philips NV, Lite-On IT Corporation, Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions Corporation, Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions U.S.A. Inc., Pioneer Corporation, Pioneer North America Inc., Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., Pioneer High Fidelity Taiwan Co. Ltd., TEAC America Inc. and TEAC Corporation.
Together, the settling defendants have agreed to pay a total of $180 million to settle the DVD drive class action lawsuit.
A trial date of Feb. 12, 2018 has been set for the non-settling defendants, which include: BenQ Corporation, BenQ America Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Toshiba Corp., Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corp., Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corp. Korea, and Quanta Storage Group.
