durapro-toilet-connectorMost of us don’t think twice about a commonly used fixture in our homes: the toilet. We use it when necessary then go about our business for the day, possibly dealing with an occasional clog that is easily remedied by a plunger.

However, some DuraPro toilet connector defects that are affecting some homeowners prompted a nightmarish situation in their homes, loss of money, and even potential health problems.

DuraPro Toilet Connector Defects

Homeowners filing lawsuits against the product manufacturer allege that DuraPro toilet connector defects caused the failure of the device, leading to a cascade of unfortunate events.

The connector itself is used to link the shut off valve from the water fixture in the toilet room to the bottom side of the toilet. It uses a plastic coupling nut which lets the water flow into the toilet tank.

Homeowners say these coupling nuts are “uniformly defective” and do not work properly. This can cause water to flow in an unrestricted manner, leading to flooding of the home.

If the homeowner is at home while the toilet connector fails, he or she may be able to do damage control to quickly address the flood. But if the homeowner happens to be out at the time of the flood, or even more unfortunate, away on a trip or vacation out of town for any period of time, the results can be devastating.

Small areas of flooding may be confined to the bathroom area, but floods from a longer duration may affect the entire house. This may cause homeowners to have to tear out walls and throw away furniture.

If the standing water already had time to do damage, mold may have grown in areas that are not visible to the human eye.

Some household molds are incredibly toxic and can cause what is commonly referred to as Sick Building Syndrome. Approximately 25 percent of people have a genetic defect that causes them to become incredibly sick from mold exposure.

Oftentimes, when homeowners visit their doctors with all sorts of neurological symptoms, cognitive issues, physical issues and more, the average physician does not suspect mold illness. Typically only when an environmental medicine doctor is consulted or a specialist in mold and bio toxin illnesses can the homeowner get an accurate diagnosis.

Because the mycotoxins produced by the molds can cause problems even when the mold itself is cleared and remediated, these mycotoxins present in furniture that was not water damaged, clothing and more can continue to make homeowners sick.

Allegations against Interline, DuraPro’s Manufacturer

In allegations against Interline, DuraPro’s manufacturer, plaintiffs say that the manufacturer new about DuraPro toilet connector defects but did not take any actions to protect consumers. Instead, the plaintiffs allege that Interline failed to disclose or warn consumers and failed to recall the product for DuraPro toilet connector defects.

Based on email exchanges between the manufacturer and supplier of the nuts from China, supposedly, the quality concerns were addressed from that time forward. However, for homeowners whose toilet connectors were part of the old manufacturing, they likely suffered from DuraPro toilet connector defects.
