Frigidaire recall overview:

  • Who: Curtis International is recalling approximately 330,000 Frigidaire-brand minifridges.
  • Why: The recall is due to internal electrical components that can short circuit, posing fire and burn hazards.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States and Canada.

Curtis International has expanded its recall of Frigidaire-brand minifridges, affecting about 330,000 units due to potential fire and burn hazards.

The recall involves model EFMIS121, with serial numbers ranging from A2001 to A2310, sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide and online from January 2020 through October 2023.

The recall, announced on Jan. 15, follows a previous recall of 634,000 minifridges in July 2025. The affected minifridges, manufactured by ShangYu North Electron Manufacture Co. Ltd. in China, have been reported to catch fire due to a short circuit in the internal electrical components.

“The minifridges’ internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite the surrounding plastic housing, posing fire and burn hazards,” the Frigidaire recall states.

Frigidaire recall urges owners to unplug minifridges and cut cords

The recall notice advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled minifridges, unplug them and cut the power cord. People should write “Recall” on the front door of the unit with a permanent marker and dispose of the minifridges according to local and state regulations.

Curtis International has received at least six reports of the model EFMIS121 minifridges catching fire, resulting in property damage.

The company is offering a refund to affected customers who can register for it at www.recallrtr.com/minifridge.

For more information, consumers can contact Curtis International toll-free at 888-727-0198 from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or email at [email protected]. Additional details are also available on its website.

Curtis International says it has received six reports of fire related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
