The recalls involve products the retailer sells, including portable chargers, cookie dough and cheese slices.ย ย 

Consumers filed the class action lawsuits over claims regarding in-store vs. online pricing and the sale of Kirkland-branded fragrance free baby wipes that allegedly contain unsafe levels of PFAS.ย 

Portable chargers sold at Costco recalled over fire, burn hazards

Portable charger company myCharge issued a recall in June for more than 560,000 myCharge Power Hub All-In-One 10,000 mAh portable chargers sold at Costco.ย 

The company initiated the recall over concerns the recalled myCharge portable chargers could overheat while charging, posing fire and burn hazards.ย 

Costco received 115 returns of the recalled portable chargers, according to the recall, which says customers mentioned melting, expanding, smoking, fire, burning, exploding or sparking.ย 

myCharge says it received five reports of incidents involving the portable chargers, including two reports of residential fires that caused approximately $165,000 in reported property damage, according to the recall.ย 

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable chargers and contact myCharge at 888-251-2026 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET Monday-Friday, by email at [email protected] or online at https://mycharge.com/pages/power-hub-all-in-one-recall to receive a free replacement device.ย 

Cookie dough products sold at Costco part of recall over potential salmonella contaminationย 

Cookie dough products sold at Costco are part of an ongoing recall that includes more than 29,000 cases of cookie dough products.ย 

Baker Rise Baking Company issued the recall in May over potential salmonella contamination concerns. The Food and Drug Administration has since upgraded it to a Class II recall.ย 

Baker Rise distributed the recalled cookie dough products to 21 U.S. states and sold them at retailers such as Costco and Samโ€™s Club, among others.ย 

Costco recalls Tillamook cheese slices after plastic discovered

Costco issued a recall at the beginning of June for certain Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack cheese slices after Tillamook discovered plastic pieces in a limited quantity of Monterey Jack Cheese used to produce the recalled products.ย 

The recall involves Tillamook cheese slices with a best-by date of Oct. 22, 2024, that were produced for Costco locations in the Northwest region of the United States.

โ€œThrough standard food safety and quality processes, Tillamook has identified a very small quantity of gray and black plastic pieces that may be present in a limited quantity of monterey jack cheese,โ€ the Costco recall says.

In a letter to Costco members, Tillamook says it initiated the recall out of an abundance of caution. It advised they not eat the recalled cheese slices and return them to their local Costco to receive a refund.ย 

Costco falsely promises to disclose if an item is cheaper in store than online, class action claimsย 

A Costco member filed a class action lawsuit against the retailer earlier this month over claims it falsely promises to disclose to its customers if an item is cheaper in store than on its website.ย 

The member argues that, despite the alleged promise, Costco marks up products it sells on its website and then fails to tell consumers.ย 

โ€œDespite its express representation, Costco routinely omits this material message and fails to disclose to consumers in those instances that they will be paying more for a product sold on Costco.com than if they had purchased the same exact product in-store at their local Costco Warehouse,โ€ the Costco class action says.ย 

Costco sells fragrance free baby wipes containing unsafe levels of PFAS, class action saysย 

A pair of consumers filed a class action lawsuit against Costco in June over claims the company marketed and sold Kirkland-branded fragrance free baby wipes containing unsafe levels of PFAS.ย 

The class action lawsuit, which also names product manufacturer Nice-Pak Products Inc. as a defendant, argues Costco represents its Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes, Fragrance Free baby wipes is made with only naturally derived ingredients despite allegedly containing PFAS.ย 

โ€œDefendants market the product as conferring certain health, safety and use benefits, when testing demonstrates that the product actually contains significant levels of unsafe, toxic PFAS chemicals,โ€ the Costco class action says.ย
